General Information

AMIN Media Network is registered East Jerusalem as a non-profit organization (NGO) by the registrar of the NGO's at the State of Israel's Ministry of Justice. It is also registered at the Palestinian National Authority's Ministry of Information as a media organization and is a licensed radio- and news-press production organization. AMIN its staff consists of 14 professionals working from its offices in East-Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. AMIN is governed by a Board of Directors with the Executive Director responsible for the daily management of the organization. AMIN's annual budget is approximately $300,000 and over the years it received funding from the European Union, the British Government, Canada Fund, UNESCO, UNDEF, USAID, FAO, and several private donors. AMIN implements small and big projects including trainings, meetings, workshops and events and provides technical resources to its trainees and the organizations it targets under its projects.

Mission and Objectives

AMIN promotes the development of an independent public media sector in Palestine that informs the public and promotes democracy and accountability. AMIN helps to uphold the media professionals’ freedom of speech and helps to improve their professionalism, objectivity and their capacity to increase diversity in the Palestinian media. AMIN strives for: - a Palestinian media that supports human rights, social justice, civil society and local sustainable development; - a politically engaged Palestinian youth that uses social media to convey its message. - institutional, policy and legal reforms that support greater freedom and independence of the Palestinian media. - a stronger role of the local media and citizen journalists to support freedom of expression, local development, and civil society, by organizing trainings, meetings, workshops and events and by providing technical resources for social media activists, individuals, media outlets, and government institutions.

Main Projects / Activities

AMIN trains and organizes (joint) workshops for: journalists, social media activists, individuals, media outlets, civil society organizations and government institutions. It organizes (annual) events such as the Annual Palestinian Woman Journalists Award, the Annual Media Conference and the Social Media Conference. How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

With 16 years of experience in working with the Palestinian media and a huge network combining media outlets, individual journalists, civil society organizations, government institutions, academics and others we are sue we will be able to contribute and assist others where needed.
