General Information
Gesellschaft für Europabildung(Association for European Training) is a certified non-profit organisation founded in 2005 and registered in Charlottenburg court, Berlin. Headquarter is located in Berlin and there are two independent associations in London and Vienna. Management consists if 3 people and overall number of staff employed is 8 persons. Budget is approximately 1,5 - 2 mln € per year. Main sources of funding are budgets of the programmes supported by the European Commission (LLP, Youth in Action, Citizenship, Culture), state funds (KJP), foundations such as Allianz and Aktion Mensch and private donors (companies and associated members). There are various modalities of action realised by the organisation: internships, youth exchanges, volunatry services, study visits, seminars, conferences, international meetings. We have a strong network of local and European partners both private and public, mostly devoted to the informal education. We are a member of Förderband, organisation that emerged from an initiative of writers and artists after the fall of Berlin Wall in order to support the artists in Berlin after the political and transformation. The organisation gathers 300 cultural initiatives threatened after the unification of West and East parts of Berlin.
Mission and Objectives

At present our main purpose is education both formal and informal, including civic and vocational education. In our area, we are working as advisors for institutions such as schools, small and medium-sized companies and administrative institutions. We have a strong network of European partners and we manage, advise and support the planning, realization and evaluation of international, European, national and local projects. In this way, we continue with our primary concept of transnational exchange and cooperation in the area of education. Our activity is mainly directed to young people, adults and less privileged people with the aim of raising their awareness regarding the importance of lifelong learning, intercultural exchange, democratic values, enabling their participation in education at international and European level.

Main Projects / Activities

Two main pillars of our activity are formal and informal education. The first one means planning and implementation of internships abroad for vocational students. We organise such projects in Germany as well as we send young people abroad to other European countries. It is a realisation of an idea of a common European vocational education. The second pillar is the informal education which includes organisation of voluntary services (in the frame of European Voluntary Service), youth exchanges (e.g. projects with Cuba, Chile and Russia about political and cultural education), conferences, meetings and seminars. In this way we enable the youth to encounter other cultural and social environments and acquire new skills and competences outside of formal institutions such as schools or universities. In this way they are involved locally but their actions and knowledge can have a global impact. It is also a way to organise the exchange of values, opinions and ideas and giving people a platform to learn from each other.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Gesellschaft für Europabildung could contribute to the national network and the network of national networks with partnerships and contacts tat we already have and the experience that we have gained during our work. We can promote the Anna Lindh Foundation and its values in our work and current projects as well as help to develop the network and the values for which it stands. We can also contribute with new ideas for cooperation with other members of the network and therefore, practically help with realisation of the Foundation's goals and aims.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We truely believe that the Anna Lindh Foundation gives a lot of possibilities and variety of options to improve our own programmes and projects. We think that being a member of Anna Lindh Foundation could also give us a chance to encounter new partners and be a platform of exchange. Moreover, we find that the priorities of the foundation are common with our own and therefore, we can see the prospects for the future cooperation.
