General Information

Rialto Theatre is a cultural non-profit organization with 12 employees and 20 part-time associates. The Theatre operates 11 months per year on a consistent basis. Due to the various cultural activities that the Rialto can host, it has managed to gain partnerships, create collaborations and co-productions with government services, municipalities, universities and (non-profit) organizations in Cyprus and abroad. The Rialto is organizing annually, together with the Deputy Ministry of Culture , the most important international festivals for Cinema, Dance and Music in Cyprus. It has developed a wide network through synergies with the Embassies in Cyprus, foundations, and cultural organizers in Cyprus and abroad. The Rialto Theatre is funded by the Cyprus Government mainly through the Deputy Ministry of Culture, as well as by the private sector.

Mission and Objectives

Rialto has a multi-dimensional mission including the establishment of festivals, performances and tributes, educating, promoting, enriching the cultural scene and developing audience. It offers the public entertainment through a balanced programme of high caliber professional performances, contributing to the aesthetic and intellectual culture of the citizens and to the upgrade of the cultural standard of the country. Encouraging the public to attend as many events as possible by subsiding the entrance fee, providing invitations and free admission to specially targeted social groups such as children and students. In addition to this, it offers the opportunity to local creators and institutions to present works at a low financial cost.

Main Projects / Activities

Rialto theatre is a major performing arts venue which is uniquely dedicated to bringing the very best of local and international cultural events that cover the entire spectrum of performing arts including opera, drama, music, dance, and cinema. It has established and developed significant festivals such as the Cyprus Choreography Platform, the Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival, Cyprus Choreography Showcase, Cyprus Film Days International Film Festival, Cyprus Rialto World Music Festival, Cyprus Jazz & World Music Showcase and International Short Film Festival of Cyprus along with all the other performances running at the theatre.
