General Information

MTÜ Satu Dialoog is a voluntary organization that was founded in Tallinn in 2010. The purpose of the organization is to work to promote social harmonization. We want to establish meeting places in the local community, to strengthen the responsibility and involvement of individuals. We practice inclusion, dialogue and creating a sense of community. It is important for us to contribute to the development of skills. We do this by inviting people to discussions, seminars and organizing conferences and courses. We also do activities for children and young people. The focus of MTÜ Satu Dialoog is to bring together people with different views. With the projects, we hope to involve children, young people, adults and the elderly in order to increase their sense of belonging in Estonia. Our activities focus on people, and the goal is a better quality of life for everyone. We are an open organization for everyone who wants to participate and be with us. The aim is to create a basis for dialogue related to social difficulties, such as skin colour, ethnicity, gender orientation and religion. We promote democracy, human rights, equality and freedom of expression. However, we are not a religious or ethnic organization. We are a non-profit organization in Tallinn. The main organizers of events and activities are local people of Turkish origin, whose activities are inspired by the thoughts of Fethullah Gülen. However, our doors are open to everyone who has similar views and is in favor of democracy. The MTÜ is financed through donations, which support the continuation of organizing activities. Also, our active volunteers help us to continue our activities, who work constantly to create various events. We are also occasionally supported by sponsors.

Connectivity Program ARNO has an alumni community of more than 450 individuals, NGOs, and small enterprises that connect the country with the EU and the rest of the world. Through our social media and communication channels we share news, stories, and other important information for promoting and connecting ecosystems, people, talent, and innovation. ARNO has produced the first Registry for Social Entreprises to raise awareness about the situation and needed support to the social economy ecosystem. More information can be found on our website www.arno.org.mk.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

ARNO is one of the pioneers of social and green entrepreneurship in the country, predominantly working with young people. As an organization, we use these concepts to facilitate exchange, connection, and intercultural dialogue between young people. Our program RISE overall aims to create reconciliation and intercultural learning through social entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans, a region with latent conflicts and tensions. Under this program, we have developed a methodology for young social entrepreneurs and an intercultural component that can be used in the Network`s work and activities. Moreover, ARNO is one of the leading and most vocal organizations for the betterment of the social economy ecosystem in North Macedonia, promoting values of equality, solidarity, understanding, and intercultural dialogue for the creation of more prosperous societies. We have a lot of experience and expertise in communications and outreach and developed social media channels that can be the voice of youth, civil society professionals, and others to facilitate legal and policy change. Our staff has been involved as key experts in the development of legal and policy frameworks for social entrepreneurship, youth policies and standards, youth work, and others, that can be useful for the Network as well. We are also trainers, policy researchers and experts in topics of green and social economy. Last but not least, we are a social innovation organization that always tries to bring and also promote good practices, standards, innovations, and success stories to North Macedonia, and vice-versa. Working internationally, we have access to a lot of knowledge, tools, expertise, and experience that we can offer to the Network and connect its members with other EU partners.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Our motivation is multifold: First, we have followed the work of the Foundation for many years, and we have interacted with and attended events of the Foundation`s grantees such as festivals, biennales, etc. and we appreciate what the Foundation has been doing in promoting mobility, intercultural exchange, and support to young people. We do the same through similar, but also different concepts and tools, thus, we believe our values and the Foundations and its member's values are aligned and compatible. Second, we see our membership as a valuable opportunity to learn and grow. As mentioned, we act internationally and we have international partnerships that we want to nurture, support, and further enlarge. This membership will grant us access to more people and organizations, as well as it may support us technically and financially to establish new partnerships and create something new. Third, we are part of several networks, and our experience thus far is excellent. We try to utilize these memberships to create contacts and common activities and projects. Almost all of our projects are network-based partnerships. This approach has been successful and we see the network besides other things as a way to enrich our portfolio. Fourth, we believe that the network will bring the civil society organizations closer and will be a driving force for better and more open collaboration, much needed in the times of decline of the civil society in North Macedonia. Having regular contacts and exchanges will inspire us to come together and give us the leverage as an organization and network to make more substantial changes in the community.

General Information

TEATRO A CANONE, theatrical research and creation group is made up of five people working together in the theatre. It was founded in 2008 and is located in Chivasso (Turin). The daily workshop consists of physical and vocal training according to Theatre Anthropology principles, the practice of Indian classic dances (Kathakali and Odissi) and research about physical actions in relation to music. Simultaneously, the creation of performances makes the group deal with scenic composition techniques.

Mission and Objectives

Teatro a Canone realizes many projects keeping in mind local territory around Chivasso and the international vision of the theatrical research. Between these guidelines, a set of activities exists on the territory meant as a geographic area in which Teatro a Canone, through the workshop dimension, creates new cultural relationships, but also as territories in which social disease becomes the privileged context where creating new dramaturgies able to dialogue with the contemporary times.

Main Projects / Activities

In 2010 Teatro a Canone spent 45 days in a psychiatric centre at Mental Health Service in Trento where the actors and the director rehearsed a new performance based on the classical drama of Hamlet. At the end of a creative process, the performance "Soave sia il vento" links Shakespeare’s lines with the real stories of the people healed from psychiatric diseases. In 2011 the pioneer group divided and Luca Vonella took over Teatro a Canone. Actor, director and pedagogue, he realized Horatio – naked lives: a “danced testimony” of his itinerary in the many Italian psychiatric centres, in particular in Trento. Besides Laura Prono who collaborated on specific projects, Anna Fantozzi from Marcido Marcidorjs Theatre Company joined Teatro a Canone. Anna is an actress, a scenographer and started creating Puppetry. With other actresses, the group created A hard rain-study for a tempest based on The Tempest by William Shakespeare.
The performance recreates conflicts and sceneries from the Third World; it debuted at “Kaleidoscope International Youth festival of Contemporary Art” in Tuzla (Bosnia-Herzegovina). At that time, Teatro a Canone started the cooperation with the Antiviolence
Centre of Chivasso. It was born like a permanent laboratory Il Clan delle Cicatrici in which badly treated women were trained in vocal and physical exercises.
Experts of Anti-violence Centre notice the utility of this training for their rehabilitation. They created a play that is presented at “Teatri Peregrini - No borders Performance Art Festival” in Sardinia. Teatro a Canone led workshops with disabled people, institutional
high schools, Municipalities and theatres.
Teatro a Canone has collaborated with Università di Roma Tre, Altamira Studio Teater in Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium (Holstebro, Denmark). With Teatro Tascabile of Bergamo, Teatro a Canone contributed to the grand opening performance of Picture
Gallery Accademia Carrara in Bergamo.

General Information

The Shanti Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Berlin. It was founded in 2019 by Dr. Christa Pandey and is dedicated to promoting human encounters in all areas of culture and the idea of international understanding.

Mission and Objectives

Our guiding principle is the personal encounter, exchange and understanding. We support projects that create connection, resonance and meaning. We are effective when new relationships are established between people from different backgrounds and socialisations who would otherwise never have met. We place projects for young people in particular at the centre of our work, as we are convinced that this is where the impact is most sustainable. Supporting humanitarian projects is therefore not a direct focus of the foundation's work.

Main Projects / Activities

At the Shanti Foundation, we are committed to making encounters between people possible. We are talking about encounters that are new and surprising as well as encounters beyond our comfort zone.

In view of a perceived divide in many societies, our social interaction is often at the centre of daily news. It is commonplace that mutual understanding, respect and acceptance need to be strengthened. The real challenge lies in recognising and overcoming prejudices that are simply assumed and reproduced. To do this, we need situations of encounter in which people with different perspectives can come together on an equal footing. We need spaces of encounter in which people can have their own positive experiences with each other.

Testing, exploring and researching formats for encounters and contacts that are sustainable is more important than ever. We support suitable methods and tools so that people can influence and inspire each other. In order to bring people into contact in the first place, we support creative approaches to reach them.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We are a small and young foundation that would like to specialise in methods and formats of encounter in the future. Together with our project partners, we would like to become experts in formats that are effective and sustainable. There are many daily contacts and many perspectives in our societies. But we would like to ask ourselves how we can support people in not just shielding or consuming other perspectives, but taking them seriously and respecting them? Within a network that focuses on intercultural dialogue, we can contribute our experience. Every foundation and every NGO has successes, but also failures. We can learn from these instead of making the same mistakes if we know about them from each other.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We are primarily interested in exchange. We would like to share experiences, evaluations and possible scientific findings in contact research. Projects are usually selective and short-term. We rarely know whether and how they have actually worked. We hope that this knowledge will be pooled in a network without being lost.
