Institute of Near Eastern and African Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague inherits the tradition of Czech Oriental Philology since 1849. Its staff includes 3 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 6 Assistant Professors, 1 Assistant and 40 Ph.D. students and more than 70 M.A. students of History and Culture of Islamic Countries, Arabic Studies, Hebrew Studies, Turkish Studies, Persian Studies and African Studies.
Institute regularly organises seminars and conferences, is involved in academic exchange, its main partners are Oriental Institute of Czech Academy of Sciences, Institute of Oriental Studies of Slovak Academy of Sciences, Naprstek Museum of Asian and African Cultures, and partner universities in Europe, United States, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan and Turkey.
