THE ALF VIRTUAL MARATHON FOR DIALOGUE

The Anna Lindh Foundation Virtual Marathon for Dialogue in the EuroMed region will gather activities of ALF civil society Network and partner organizations to take place during 42 days from the 19th of May to the 29th of June. The aim of the VM is to highlight the importance of the Intercultural Dialogue to build sustainable societies in the EuroMed region, taking into consideration the challenges and opportunities brought about by the Covid19 pandemic. Towards this goal in addition to a rich program of civil society and partner-led activities, a series of Weekly Public Virtual Dialogues organized by the Anna Lindh Foundation will stimulate a broad conversation and reflection on major issues impacting mutual perceptions between people in the region and common action to jointly address social and cultural challenges affecting societies North, South, East and West of the Mediterranean.

Date: 09/06/21

Time: 3pm – 5pm CET

Duration: 2 hours

THE TOPIC OF THE PUBLIC DIALOGUE

Investing in arts as a tool to break down cultural barriers is at the heart of the Anna Lindh Foundation’s mandate. This is corroborated by the Anna Lindh Intercultural Trends Survey 2020 which draws our attention towards the importance of civil society initiatives encouraging artistic expression and multi-cultural events considered as being effective in promoting diversity management. 83% of poll respondents in Europe and 88% in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries consider that cultural and artistic initiatives are effective measures to better living together in multicultural environments at large

Access to culture and arts could be provided by education. This synergy between education, arts and culture is revealed by the ALF Survey as a majority of respondents in Europe and SEM countries (73% and 72%) see that schools are places where children learn to live in diversity.
