The association has been involved in several European partnerships, projects were also granted by Swiss and Norvegian funds. Majority of the association's income is from International grants, smaller parts of our income are from membership fees and donations, National funds, tax benefit, selling books and periodicals.  Anthropolis is a board member of the Hungarian Association of NGOs for Development and Humanitarian Aid (HAND -  member of the CONCORD platform).

Mission and Objectives

Anthropolis is a public benefit association based in Budapest, Hungary. The organisation intends to promote the values of cultural relativism, participatory approach, citizens' empowerment, critical thinking and awareness on global issues. In order to introduce global perspective in institutional education and strike up social discourse, Anthropolis has created media and awareness-raising campaigns, educational programmes and materials and documentaries focused on the topics of global learning, cultural heritage of minorities, fair trade, migration, gender equality and contemporary slavery.

Main Projects / Activities

Global Learning (developing and distributing educational materials, organising workshops and courses for both students and teachers) and Digital storytelling (DST) are the main working areas of Anthropolis. We are one of the main and most active promoters on global learning in Hungary. We provide support for teachers, trainers representing all levels of the educational system to be able to embed the global perspective into their teaching practice, and promote sustainability as a complex (environmental, socal, economical) issue. Besides global educational activities, Anthropolis applies the Digital Storytelling method in different projects for diverse target groups including students, teachers, people with special needs, professionals etc. We dedicate two websites especially for digital storytelling [www.storycenter.hu and www.storycenter.info].

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Anthropolis as an active board member of the National platform's global education board is capable of lobbying at different stakeholders and decision makers level. Also has a wide range of school partnerships to have a direct contribution of different global education issues for teachers and students as well. Anthropolis is also active in the youth field.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Anthropolis' mission and main objectives correspond with ALF goals. We believe that the membership in the ALF Network would help us widening our perspectives and network with fellow organizations, NGOs and institutions, and would support Anthropolis to achieve its overall aim: to build a more just and sustainable future for everyone.
