For the first time since its inception, the Anna Lindh Foundation held its Annual Heads of Networks Meeting virtually as a response to the global health crisis in our region and the whole world is facing. The meeting took place on 30 November, 1 and 3 December 2020.

Despite the challenges of social distancing in addition to the online fatigue after a year full of virtual webinars, debates and exchanges, the Heads of Networks Annual Meeting was remarkable this year!

The digital meeting was an “Open space for discussions and Reflections”, a unique occasion for welcoming new HoNs coordinators that joined the ALF Network recently, and an opportunity to review strategic orientations of the ALF network and ALF next phase programming for 2021 onwards.

The meeting was inaugurated by the President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, Madame Elisabeth Guigou (Opening speech), and the Executive Director, Dr Nabil Al Sharif (Opening speech).

A total of 13 sessions took place over 3 days, engaging HoNs coordinators from 33 National Networks, as well are representatives from the ALF Network Unit, Programmes, Grants, Partnerships, Monitoring & Evaluation and Communication, with a total participation of 63 participants.

The online meeting was held in different formats, plenary and breakout sessions, with simultaneous translation in the three official languages of the Foundation: English, French and Arabic.

Sessions were moderated and reported by different HoNs coordinators from the North and South National Networks that actively engaged in an open discussion about the ALF Network Strategy and Network Guidelines.

Overall, the meeting has reached its goal in rebuilding a common vision and stressing on the participatory approach and sharing ideas and reflections of the Networks on significant matters such as fundraising, cooperation and enhancing the participation of network members in the grassroot level.

HoNs Annual Meeting closing remarks were delivered by Madame. Élisabeth Guigou, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation and Dr. Nabil Al Sharif, Executive Director of the Anna Lindh Foundation (President's and Executive Director's closing remarks).
