Institute of Archaeology and Museology is Dpt. of Faculty of Arts, one of 9 faculties of The Masaryk University. They are financed through the Czech government (via Ministry of Education and Universities) and also from research grants (the largest one is for years 2005-2011). Institute of Archaeology and Museology was established in the year 1931 and since 1960s is active in the archaeological research in Czech republic: permanent expedition bases at Tesetice (Neolithic/Prehistoric period), Pohansko (Early Medieval period) and Rokstein (Medieval Castle). The second topic are Computer Studies in Archaeology. Since 2006 has an archaeological research project in NE Syria. The department organise workshops, seminars and conferences, have teaching commitments, are involved in the academic exchange and have a number of academic, governmental and non governmental partners.
