CULTNAT was established in 2000. It is affiliated with Bibliotheca Alexandrina (B.A.)in Alexanderia and supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The center consists of 235 employees as of 1st of December, 2011. Due to our affiliations, our budgetary resources come from either the B.A. budget, or from external resources specifically allocated to our contribution in international projects. Therefore our budgetary resources fluctuates every year and there is no specific number to be submitted. CULTNAT participates in the field of cultural and natural heritage documentation through a variety of activities such as conferences, workshops, both short term and long term projects, events, and seminars. CULTNAT has also won a number of prestigous awards and worked with UNESCO, as well as both international counterparts under EU projects and national organizations in Egypt. Mission and Objectives

CULTNAT has been most efficient in establishing itself as a legitimate documenter of cultural and natural heritage in Egypt and the Mediterranean region. Through this process, CULTNAT has integrated in the fields of ICT, cultural anthropology, linguistics, the arts, social and economic development, history, architecture, ancient Egyptian studies and biology. The Center's mandate is to document the various aspects of Egypt's tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as its natural heritage. This involves the implementation of the national plan of action towards the documentation program, making use of the most up-to-date information technology in collaboration with the national and international specialized organizations. The Center also aims at increasing public awareness of Egypt's cultural and natural heritage using all available media as well as building capacities of professionals in the fields of conservation and documentation of cultural and natural heritage. CULTNAT has promoted capacity building and cooperation initiatives with both domestic and international collaborations with other institutions, as well as promoted the involvement and participation of the communities at the local level to enhance authenticity and development.

Main Projects / Activities

The Center's implementation of the national plan of action towards the documentation program, makes use of the most up-to-date information technology (such as Geographic Information System (GIS), Multimedia Database, 3D Laser scanning, and Content Management System, and CULTRAMA) in collaboration with national and international specialized organizations. Our database of digitized architectural, archeological, photographic, folkloric, artistic, or natural heritage, as well as historical documentation preservation, promotes capacity building, which shares Egypt’s intricate heritage with other institutions, academics, researchers, and the public. CULTNAT also works on various international projects under FP7, EUROMED, Enpi CBCMED, UNESCO, etc. Currently, ongoing international projects include projects such as Climate for Culture, INDICATE, 3DCoForm, and Siwa Tangiers. In an effort to optimize maximum output and productivity, we contribute to these projects through various activities such as workshops, training courses, conferences, promotional events, and the production of relevant deliverables.

General Information
The Center for Development Services (CDS) is an employee-owned development entrepreneurial venture that empoloyes around 60 employees and consultants.  CDS parters with a diverse network consisting of both national and international entities as well as governmental and non-governmental entities. Among the most inportant partners are CRISP e.V, CREA, the Word Bank and a number of Egyptian ministries, etc.   The budgetray resources available in a year amount to around €2,183,733. CDS receives funding from a wide range of clients including governmental agencies such as Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) and multinational development agencies such as the European Union (EU) and non-governmental organizatios and foundations such as the Ford Foundationa and CARE International.  CDS uses innovative approaches to mobilize technical and financial support for development endeavors in Egypt and the Middle East.Participation, Partnership, and Gender equity are the key approaches and overall outcomes of CDS activities. These approaches have been introduced and developed by academics and development practitioners as effective vehicles for promoting economic growth, alleviating poverty and achieving social justice. CDS has been employing a Collaborative Community Action (CCA) approach, Participatory Rapid Appraisal (PRA) methodology, utilizes Community Based Monitoring (CBM) and participatory self evaluation as the main approaches guiding all of its work in development.

We identify practical and creative solutions for development-related problems, and build mechanisms which allow people and organizations to use their resources effectively to improve standards of living, human and organizational capabilities, health and the environment.
Through consulting, research, project implementation and cross-sector collaboration, CDS leverages its expertise in four program areas: natural resources and environment, health management and research, human capital development and partnership development. Our expertise guides communities and organizations towards sustainable development, enabling them to bring about a better future.

Main Projects / Activities

Among the main highlights of CDS' most recent projects are:
1. Capacity Building Training, International Organization for Migration (IOM), 2015

Provides a training program to refugees of youth and adolescent boys and girls with a focus on capacity building.  This will equip them with key life skills, employability and entrepreneurial skills in preparation for developing their skills.
2. Addressing the Needs of Children and Adolescents Living with HIV in Egypt and Chad, 2015 (UNICEF)

Provide support and care to children and adolescents living with HIV, ensure they have access to proper health care and psychosocial support, equip them with the knowledge and skills that would improve their livelihoods, reduce stigma towards them
3. Coexistence Initiative in Masaken Osman, 2015

Aims at enabling Egyptian and Syrian youth demonstrate enhanced sense of commitment towards peaceful coexistence and alleviating the risks of irregular migration through social engagement within their communities.
4. 2. Simulation Gaming on Simulating Egyptian Transition (SET III), 2015

CRISP NGO and the Center for Development Services (CDS) organized a Training workshop on using Simulation Gaming under Simulating Egyptian Transition Program (SET) which trained 30 trainers from all over Egypt, with the aim of enabling civil society actors to employ the Simulation Gaming method.

Limited Liability Company (2012) replaced earlier tawsiya basita company (2005) with same name. Cooperating with Center for Arab-West Understanding (NGO). Six staff and an irregular number of volunteers. Partners are the Stichting Arab-West Foundation, a Dutch NGO and member of ALF, Kerkinactie (Netherl), Missio and Misereor (Germany) for whom we produce reports. Payments come from last three. Part of funds goes through AWF. We are building electronic library for intercultural dialogue. Part of work is done with student interns (Egyptian/non-Egyptian).

Mission and Objectives

To be a non-partisan organisation that contributes to the peaceful coexistence of all people regardless of conviction in Egypt. Providing non-partisan information/background studies is a prerequisite for dialogue and mutual understanding. Translation Arabic/English in proper cultural context is main part of our work.

Main Projects / Activities

Building electronic library (database), internship program for students, providing reports with either media critique or background to media reporting, in particular reports describing conflict situations. Writing skills of many students is not strong and needs improvement. Wishing to develop summerschool for students and more engagement in conflict resolution.

General Information
Le Centre d’Études Alexandrines (CEAlex) est un laboratoire du CNRS. Fondé en 1999 il est devenu une Unité de Service et de Recherche (USR 3134) en 2007, ce qui lui permet d’accueillir en délégation des chercheurs venant à la fois de l’Université et du CNRS. Pour réaliser les missions qui lui sont confiées le CEAlex s'appuie sur une équipe de 60 personnes et plus de 200 missionnaires par an qui interviennent de façon complémentaire dans de nombreux domaines d'activité: archéologues, architectes, cartographes, céramologues, restaurateurs, informaticiens, photographes... Etablissement public de recherche, le CEAlex est financé par le CNRS, mais ses différentes activités de recherche et les travaux qu'il conduit bénéficient de financements publics complémentaires (en fonction des activités concernées: programmes de financement de l'Agence Nationale de la Recherche, programmes européens, Ministère des Affaires Etrangères). Le budget annuel global du CEAlex, toutes activités confondues, a été de 1,7 millions d'euros en 2009.
Mission and Objectives

Le CEAlex répond à une mission générale, l’étude de l'histoire d’Alexandrie depuis sa fondation, sous tous ses aspects. Pour cela il remplit trois missions principales.
La première consiste à réaliser des fouilles de sauvetage. Ainsi à l'occasion de travaux de construction le CEAlex est invité par le Conseil Suprême des Antiquités Égyptiennes (CSA) à fouiller: depuis 1992, plus d’une vingtaine d’interventions ont permis de dégager des maisons romaines et ptolémaïques, des rues, des tronçons de la muraille, une partie de la nécropole, les ruines submergées du Phare, etc.
Le deuxième mission est la sauvegarde et la mise en valeur du patrimoine bâti : la recherche, la restauration et la mise en valeur des citernes souterraines d'Alexandrie ou le programme de restauration des mosaïques alexandrines pour le futur Musée des mosaïques en font partie.
La troisième concerne l'étude d'Alexandrie médiévale, ottomane, khédiviale et cosmopolite au travers d'enquêtes dans les archives inédites.

Main Projects / Activities

En complément de ses missions, le CEAlex a développé une politique de coopération scientifique structurée autour de projets collaboratifs, avec une volonté d'ouverture disciplinaire et de dialogue culturel. Cette démarche s'appuie sur des dispositifs de l'Union Européenne, de l'ANR, du CNRS, du Ministère des Affaires Etrangères ou de l'Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie. Le CEAlex participe ainsi au programme européen RAMSES2 (http://ramses2.mmsh.univ-aix.fr), à 5 programmes ANR et envisage d'ici 2011 la création d'un groupement de recherche thématique et l'élaboration de programmes européens.
Partager les connaissances est également une volonté centrale: le CEAlex mène ainsi des projets de formation des personnels du Conseil Suprême des Antiquités Égyptiennes (apprentissage du français, de la muséographie, bourses, stages dans les laboratoires de restauration du CEAlex) qui peuvent aller jusqu’à des doctorats. Grace à son service pédagogique, plus de 4.000 jeunes Alexandrins sont sensibilisés chaque année à la valeur exceptionnelle du patrimoine de leur ville.

Providing documentation for the sake of intercultural understanding between the Arab and non-Arab world and the Islamic and non-Islamic worlds. Understanding that fosters mutual respect and cooperation. The Centre developed standards for reporting and created a media critique for articles/reports not meeting those criteria. The centre believes that there should be one standard in evaluating both Western and Arab media.

Weekly electronic magazine with review Arab media and special reports explaining context of things reported in various media.
Development of Electronic Documentation Centre for easy web-based access of over 10,000 reviews of Arab media and special reports covering the period 1997-today.

The center for Egyptian women’s legal assistance was founded on November 1995 in Boulaq El-Dakrour. It was registered as an organization according to the new association law nr. 84 for the year 2003 under the registration nr. 1829. - CEWLA’s staff is 40 persons (10 men – 30 women) . - The year budget is 200 000 Dollar. - CEWLA’s partners are : NOVIB/ Oxfam ,Global Fund for Women, Ford foundation, Equality now , Open Society Institute, Finland Embassy, USA Embassy, GTZ , Participatory Development Program, CIDA.
Mission and Objectives

CEWLA’s mission :
o Incorporate women’s rights as part of human rights.
o Change cultural heritage that discriminate against women.
o Empower women economically and combat violence against women
CEWLA’s objectives :
o Provide legal and rights-based awareness necessary for women.
o Provide legal assistance through adopting personal status, civil cases and others… etc.
o Establishing literacy classes to eliminate alphabetical illiteracy and provide continues education coupled with awareness sessions such as legal, health and social awareness
