General Information

I'm an international law researcher, at the moment working on my PhD thesis at the European University Institute with professor Martin Scheinin as my supervisor.

Mission and Objectives

As a researcher and civil activist my mission is to enhance mutual understanding and peaceful interaction between people and nations as well as strengthen the rule of international law and position of international tribunals.

Main Projects / Activities

My research interests are international law in general, human rights law, international criminal law and law of the sea.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Through all kind of research based activities (publications, public discussion, social media activities), organizing events.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

One specific area of my research is migrant trafficking, especially at the sea and even more specifically at the Mediterranean, including the international rules and treaties regarding search and rescue activities at the sea (I have been working 5 years for the Finnish Red Cross as the master of an ambulance and rescue vessel at the Finnish archipelago) and would like to understand the situation at the Mediterranean better on the other hand and perhaps provide some research based legal know how on the other hand.
And of course a great part of my motivation is based on the fact that I had the opportunity to know Anna personally as young students in the late 70's and early 80's.
