The goal of the project was to create A theatre performance based on real stories collected from  Interviews with women with disabilities IN Palestine and Sweden.  The play was performed by Swedish and Palestinian actors in Palestine and now will be performed in Sweden.

It is very seldom that people with disabilities are creators of artistic work. In media they are described without nuances as heroes or victims. We want to spread the life stories of women with disabilities – not from the disability perspective but from the fact that they are owners of stories worth listening to. The fact that the theatrical performance emanates from and is performed by women with disabilities will contribute to this group being seen. By creating and performing this play, we hope that the audience will acknowledge the competence of people with disabilities. The long-term impact of this project is hopefully that the society allows these women to be carriers and creators of artistic and public productions.

The audience will be young people from the age of 13. In Sweden our target group is specifically young people and adults with Arabic as their mother tongue.

Our aim is to develop the art of theatre and spread the life stories of women with disabilities from the perspective that they are owners of stories worth listening to. The fact that the theatrical performance emanates from and is performed by women with disabilities will contribute to this group being made visible. By allowing these women to be carriers and creators of an artistic and public production, the surroundings will acknowledge the competence of people with disabilities.
