General Information
The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children is an independent, not-for-profit company with charitable status, founded in 1995 on the principle that all children, as citizens, have the same cultural entitlements as adults. The child’s entitlements to culture are set out in Article 31 of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by the Irish Government on September 21st, 1992
Mission and Objectives

The vision is proposed by a new team at The Ark with new Director, Eina McHugh, Chair, Ronan Smith and configuration of voluntary Board of Directors (Professor John Coolahan, Ian Duffy, Marie McLoughlin, Belinda Moller, Clodagh O’Brien, Helen O’Donoghue and Liam O’Dwyer ) collectively representing a wealth of specialist expertise and experience across children, culture and education. These are changing times for children, for agencies committed to children’s wellbeing and The Ark. A strategy for even three years is almost certain to need revision as we move forward and learn.

Main Projects / Activities

In the first eleven years of its life, The Ark has pioneered an exceptional level of excellence, innovation and creativity in children’s cultural work, achieving both national and international renown as a landmark organization.
