General Information
A not for profit cultural organisation dedicated to the pomotion of all forms of culture and art, in particular literature and the use of language. It actively encourages the artists, writers and poets to read in the original language. It is a platform for substantial cultural exchange. It is run by Nora hadjisotiriou and Lily Michaelides and employs / engages other specialists on a project to project basis. Main funding comes from the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, other local and international cultural organisations and private organisations and individuals. These funds are used exclusively for the implementation of each project.  Associates are local authorities and local and international literary organisations and institutions.
Mission and Objectives

The promotion and preservation of all languages and dialects, and all participants are encouraged to read in the original language.
To combine by creating dialogues between the various art forms, highlighting the sound of each language culture and history, and bringing to the audience the richness of each country, showing both the similarities and differences that make us a part of this world.
All participants share with each other and the audience the contemporary literary trends of their respective countries in order to reach higher levels of understand and acceptance of diversity through a constructive literary dialogue.

2nd International Literary Festival Nov 2015
Sto Proto Skali (at the first step) November 2014
Twenty students / young adults will read their ‘first’ poems (protolia-πρωτόλεια).
Poetry In Dialogue June 2014
With the Sounds and Smells of the Sea and the City; in Dialogue with Dance, Music and Visual Art. Twenty eight poets from Cyprus and abroad, will interact with each other and other forms of art.
LOGOS International Literary Festival Nov 2013
An international literary festival, 3 days long, that took place at the  Faneromeni Gymnasium and Platres, included satellite events. Twenty three writers from Cyprus and abroad participated.
Berlin Literary Festival 2013  Jun 2013
Participated with a poet in the ‘What is Poetry’ section of the festival.
Nicosia World Book Capital City 2015 Apr 2013
Prepared and submitted the proposal to UNESCO, suggesting Nicosia for the honorary title.
Cyprus ~ A Literary Destination – 2011, 2012 Oct  2011, 2012
Nine writers form abroad were hosted in Cyprus. In 2012 a forum on Translation included the representative of the EC Translators department.
Berlin Literary Festival 2012 June 2012
Participated in the Renshi Poetry section of the festival as one of the 27 poets from Europe
SPRINGPOETRYRAIN May 2012
Three hundred nine poets from 55 countries. The writings fell from the sky ‘connecting’ Araşta street to Ledra street. Coorganised with Sidestreets and the Cyprus Office of the European Parliament.
Triptych: Poetry – identity – Coexistence 2009 – 2010
An EC Culture 2007 – 2013 Programme Project, with Cyprus the leaders and 3 coorganisers – France, Greece and Sweden; 6 events, in 4 countries; with more than 200 participants, poets and other artists; 4 anthology editions in three languages.

We believe that ALF is the authority on southern mediterranean and we want to contribute in the undertanding and peaceful coexistance despite the differences of the various people due to culture, religion, history and social circumstances.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Our home Cyprus, due to its strategic position as the crossroads of three continents, and our history that has had influences from all surrounding countries, is uniquely positioned to act as the link of the region.
Through ALF we wish
to collaborate with the countries and organisations of the region (members of ALF)  in order to implement joint events, projects, ventures
to exchange ideas and trends, to create networks of like minded organisations and creators
to create interactions between the creators and the audience
