General Information
Women In International Security Israel (WIIS Israel) is an international affiliate of Women in International Security (WIIS) located in Washington D.C., USA. WIIS Israel was founded in September 2010 by Julia Chazkel and Lea Landman at the IDC Herzliya, Herzliya, Israel. WIIS Israel is currently funded by private donors, help from WIIS headquarters in Washington D.C. and membership fees collected annually but is building its development as a top priority to increase the size of the projects it currently operates and to become completely independent from the Washington branch. WIIS Israel works closely with other Women in International Security affiliated around the world (many of which are located in Europe). WIIS Israel works very closely with an organization called Magnoos Consultants on our mid-level training program as well as the Institute for Inclusive Security, Gvahim, Heseg, the major universities in Israel, Tel Aviv University, Haifa University, Hebrew University, IDC Herzliya, Bar Ilan University and Ben Gurion University.
Mission and Objectives

WIIS Israel is dedicated to increasing the influence of women in the fields of foreign and defense affairs in Israel and the greater Middle East by raising their numbers and increasing awareness about international security issues and women’s rights. WIIS Israel seeks this through two avenues, the first being our programming, mentorship programs, training programs, networking between women and the second avenue in through our research. The research aspect of WIIS Israel is to rather relevant information on women in the field of security to help increase the influence of the field including major research on women's influence in the peace process, the perception of women in the field and how it can aid the peace process, the influence of women in conflict zones and post-conflict reconstruction among others.

Main Projects / Activities

Mentor Program:
This incredible opportunity allows students and entry-level women in the field to connect with successful women in the Israeli military, government, universities and research institutes. These professional women will provide career advice and as well as personal encouragement to women aspiring to grow and develop in their professional goals and aspirations. These mentors are for life, and are matched with individuals according to the individual’s specific career interests.
Education Program:
WIIS Israel is partnering with the top universities in Israel to hold monthly lectures on campuses across the country. Participating universities include Bar-Ilan University, Haifa University, Hebrew University, Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya and Tel Aviv University. The lectures include a broad spectrum of topics including security and conflict resolution as well as practical workshops such as CV building and interviewing skills.
Mid-Level Training Program
For women who are already in security positions but striving to reach higher, WIIS Israel offers training seminars held at different ministries to help women to achieve leadership within their current roles and places of work.
Job Listings:
A list of current job openings around the country is provided on the website to members who have registered and received a user name and pass word. This list will also include updates about coming events related to security issues.
