5+5 Ministers of Foreign Affairs welcome MED FORUM outcomes

The preliminary conclusions of the landmark MED FORUM of the Anna Lindh Foundation were discussed in Marseilles on Friday 28 October by Ministers for Foreign Affairs from Europe and North Africa during a ministerial meeting to discuss the present scenario in the Mediterranean.

The conclusions were delivered by Youth Sector representatives of MED FORUM who travelled from Valletta to Marseilles to exchange views with Ministers on how to open up space for civil society and youth-led action in addressing the root causes of radicalisation and extremism.

According to the final declaration of the "5+5 Ministerial" issued on Friday, Ministers welcomed the large-scale projects being advocated by the Anna Lindh Foundation through MED FORUM 2016, and backed in particular the expansion of the flag-ship programme "Young Mediterranean Voices".

Dr George Vella, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malta, reaffirmed that MED FORUM would provide a platform for working with the Anna Lindh Foundation and European Union institutions to shape the forthcoming EU Presidency in Valletta (first semester 2017).
