In its new strategy to recapture the essence of the Foundation as a pivotal actor for intercultural dialogue locally and a militant advocate for the power of Egypt’s third sector, the Anna Lindh Foundation is focusing on establishing a clear connection between the Foundation’s mandate for promoting intercultural dialogue and its leading role in mobilising the civil society and networking on a local level.

In this regard, the ALF seeks to make of its Headquarters a space/platform for intercultural exchange by promoting intercultural actions and making available its premises for actions and initiatives of cultural, artistic and civil society actors as well as diplomatic missions and EU Delegation to Egypt, who are involved directly with the public, to put the ALF’s mission into action.

Earlier this year, the ALF had the pleasure to celebrate two events at the von Gerber house with the collaboration of the French Institute of Egypt in Alexandria and the Head of Network institution of the ALF Egyptian Network.

The first event was held on 26 January as part of the La Nuit des idées 2022 programme of the Institut français d'Egypte à Alexandrie, where a dialogue around the theme "Rebuilding Together" was led by the architect Mohamed Adel Dessouki on the experience of the Gourna village with a study on the architect Hassan Fathy.

On 20 February, a training workshop titled “Debate for Dialogue” aimed at raising youth awareness of the importance of coexistence and building their capacities on positive and peaceful dialogue skills was organised by the Foundation’s network member ‘Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights’ in partnership with ‘Partners for Transparency’, the Head institution of the Egyptian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation.

In March, the ALF held from 10 to 16 March the fourth Urban Lab Camp organised by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung / Egypt Office in partnership with CEDEJ - Egypt and Bibliotheca Alexandrina as part of the activities of the Month for Sustainable Cities.

From 20 to 23 March, the Foundation hosted a training workshop organised by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung / Egypt Office for workers in the field of climate change and sustainable development with the aim of building their negotiating and knowledge capacities at the Climate Summit to be hosted in Egypt next November.

In May 2022, the ALF will co-organise events with the EU Delegation to Egypt in the framework of the Europe Month, in addition to several other initiatives that will be organised by the French Institute in Alexandria, the Swedish Embassy in Egypt, among others.

If your organisation is interested in hosting its activities/initiatives at the Anna Lindh Foundation Headquarters in Alexandria, please contact us at info@annalindhfoundation.org.
