Within the ALF Egyptian Intercultural Programme which aims to support local cultural initiatives and events as well as fostering synergies with institutions, mobilising the civil society and networking on a local level, the ALF Secretariat organised several events at its premises in Alexandria during the month of June.

On 26 and 27 June, the ALF Secretariat co-organised the “Blue Future Camp” bringing together 32 youth from 4 Mediterranean cities in Egypt (Arish, Port Said, Marsa Matruh, and Alexandria). Participants were given the opportunity to engage in group discussions, participate in activities, and hear from a variety of speakers from Egypt and France. The Camp is part of the “Blue Future” project offering solutions in the environmental field through research, action, and building a common discourse against sea pollution.

As part of the #ALFClimateSeries campaign lasting from June to October to raise awareness on climate change and its social impact on the Mediterranean region, the ALF Secretariat organised the kick-off event “Climate change in the Mediterranean: Environmental and Social Impact” on 14 June at the ALF Headquarters in Alexandria with panel discussions on:

  • Overview on the COP27 and climate change;
  • Focus on the Marine Litter problem and solutions;
  • Climate change and social impact in the Mediterranean region;
  • Alternatives and Environmental solutions by the Civil Society sector and start-ups.

On 03 June, the ALF hosted a concert of the Choeur Francophone du Caire who harmonically sang about 20 songs from different countries in English, French and Swedish, among others.

Further events will be organised in July including an event of Film my Design × Mediterranean Design Lounge (MDL) on 25 July as well as of the Marathon Run For Green Vol.2 , Run For COP27 Marathon on 29 July.
