Abstract

This analysis presents 12 successful practices in advocacy and policy dialogue pertaining to gender equality, developed in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The 12 practices have been selected through a call for proposal for the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to submit an advocacy or a policy dialogue initiative considered to be successful in the political, economic, social and cultural field.

The selection took into account criteria like: the CSO experience in advocacy and policy dialogue, the effectiveness, the innovation, the duplicability of the practice and the need for a geographical and thematic balance within the Euro-Mediterranean region. With the aim to foster the transfer of the lessons learnt, this analysis proposes approaches and tools to mobilize policy makers and public opinion in favor of women’s rights. Furthermore, it is based on eight components that systematically recur in all the 12 practices. This overview has been conceived as a tool to outline critical success factors that can be useful for all those actors willing to engage in policy dialogue and advocacy for gender equality.
