Mission and Objectives

MOTA BASIC PRINCIPLES:
Temporality (time):
- Each artist is invited for a period of one week to one month.
- Each artist should produce a work that is of temporary nature and that integrates the public
(local people) or is installed/performed in public space.
Transitoriness (space):
- Each MOTA (Museum of Transitory Art) residence is a space for production and reflection,
but the museum is located outside the residence.
- MOTA uses the webspace mota-atom.com for documentation, archiving, and reflection
and is conceived as a network of different local temporary MOTA spaces around the world.
Dynamic organism:
- MOTA is never at rest. It is a live organism as it changes according to new MOTA spaces
and people who work within its program and space.
- The growth of MOTA in time and space is reflected in new MOTA local studios and in its webspace, which itself has a form of dynamic atomic organism.

Main Projects / Activities

MOTA- Museum of Transitory Art is the first Artist in Residency program in Ljubljana.
Starting from October 2008, MOTA will invite artists on a monthly basis, based on applicant’s
project proposal for the residency. MOTA will present creators within broad range of art practices
but will focus on intermedia, visual and sound art and new forms of artistic language (livecinema,
temporary installations…).
- Spring Festival, an open air festival of music and visual culture. Spring Festival includes workshops for children and multimedia workshops, lectures by artists, cultural producers, musicians etc, exhibitions.
- Project RoboVox, an interactive public installation in form of a giant robot, is an attempt to reconsider methods of free speech and consciousness about freedom of speech and encourages expression of opinions.
- Live cinema nights, where we invite artists, who research in their work the relationships between image and sound in experimental and poetic way.
