I CAN MOVE established a Community Dance movement as a tool for addressing specific social development obstacles like inequality, exclusion, fragmentation, & Post Traumatic Stress Disorders-PTSD. The project seeks to break stereotypes & enable social strata from communicating across the fault line of their differences. Through this process we seek social empowerment of the marginalized by providing participants with tools for self-expression, raising their self-esteem & body awareness, hence their ability to embrace in Empathy. Evidence shows that Dance is a highly suitable method providing ALL 4 resilience: Physical, Emotional, Social & Mental resilience, necessary for anyone to transform PTSD into PTGrowth. (Tedeshi 2004) In Spring 2014 a performance will target Handicapped persons (HP). The dance sessions will work hand-in-hand with directives of dance therapists, whose goal is to release the bottled negative emotions from the targeted HP and their families. Special attention will also be paid to modes of raising their aspirations.
Inequality is a process by which the victim is forced into a reduced participation in the public sphere. Since visibility is power, this project utilizes the stage of dance, allowing the marginalized to claim the spot-light. HP are faced on daily basis with rejection & with reasons for pessimism. This project tries to give them a scenario to ponder about, in which they are the centre of the event as participants, not bystanders.

Contribution to the social development of Palestinian individuals and communities by addressing elements of social divide such as stereotyping, inequality, exclusion, marginalization and fragmentation. Creation of a viable, sustainable Palestinian Community Dance movement.

Year of Grant
National Network

One of the fastest-expanding civic movements in history - Let's Do It! will unite the Mediterranean in a joint coordinated clean up of the beaches and sea in a highly visible series of actions that promise to increase youth participation in democratic governance. Let's Do It does not only create a cleaner world, it creates active citizens having taken action once, wish to continue to change society for the better.

Now LDI will take on the Mediterranean Sea pollution, cleaning up beach garbage before it washes out to sea and endagers the environment as macro- and microplastics. The project will coordinate, train, inspire and mobilise national and local teams in nearly all coastal Mediterranean countries to clean-up beach garbage 10-11 May 2014 for the big clean-up.

Let's Do It has previously organised national clean-ups but now it focuses on uniting volunteers in all Mediterranean countries in jointly cleaning their common sea. Coordination planning of the macro-regional team will be done at a 3-day meeting for 20 persons followed by a 3-day training of trainers in mobilising volunteers and resources, using innovative techniques to map & organise clean-up logistics. The 3-day training course for 30 persons like the seminar will be held in Alexandria, Egypt.

The project will start the Let's Do It Mediterranean! 5-year campaign by mobilizing volunteers in nearly all Med countries to take action locally to clean beaches and sea of garbage. The aim is a clear and healthy Mediterranean, coordinated inter-regional volunteer action and increased active citizenship and pride at the local level.

The project is based in an already existing program (Conviure a la Mediterrània) of intercultural education workshops focused on the Mediterranean cultures, using games as methodological tools, which’s being developed since 2002 in Catalonia and has become one of the winners of the 2011 UNAOC Intercultural Innovation Award (www.interculturalinnovation.org), among other reasons, because the Jury considered the huge possibilities of escalating and replicating in other Euromed countries and in non-formal education environments. The present project is one of the outcomes of a Training&Networking seminar that has taken place in November funded by YiA.3.1 program and sponsored by UNAOC, where 30 representatives from 9 different CSO from Euromed countries took part.
It aims:
• In Jordan and Tunisia To adapt and replicate the program through 2 training courses  for youth teachers and educators on methodologies using games to work Interculturalism with children and youth and to run 2 pilot programs of workshops in schools and youth clubs in these countries.
• In Spain To develop the program in 2 two towns during the school year 2013-2014 introducing new activities (international workcamp and ALF’s Citizens Exchange Program)
• In both shores of the Sea  to improve some of the existing tools/games and prepare new ones in order to enable them to be used
These main actions will be the first steps to establish links between schools and youth clubs from both shores of the Mediterranean.

  1. l’organisation d’une formation sur l’éducation à l’image destinée à des enseignants, afin de leur donner des pistes d’utilisation de contenus cinématographiques en classe ;
  2. quatre projections de films et la constitution de dossiers pédagogiques pour les jeunes et les enseignants, proposant diverses clés de lecture pour chacun des films sélectionnés pour le projet MEDIMAGES. Les dossiers pédagogiques seront traduits en trois langues (anglais, arabe et français) ;

The central aim of the project is to promote the understanding of the role of migrations and migrants as facilitators of intercultural learning and exchange. Migrants are often judged negatively because of consequences of their unsuccessful social integration, often based on lack of understanding and acceptance by the general population. Still, they possess valuable (inter)cultural capital with immense potential for advancement of socio-cultural development of society. Civil society organizations Slovene Philanthropy, WE Center and Institute Apis are all actively contributing to the local and regional promotion of intercultural dialogue and aim to promote understanding of migrations and diversity as pillars of intercultural collaboration. We wish to combine our knowledge and experience in the field of migration, youth work and use of multimedia/digital communication tools by designing a comprehensive training course focused on activist use of widely available multimedia and communication tools for 30 youngsters living in Slovenia and Jordan (including individuals with migrant and minority backgrounds). With acquired knowledge and skills they will be able to express their thoughts on migrations and intercultural dialogue in the form of multimedia projects and become promoters of intercultural collaboration in their community. Their work
will be promoted in various public presentations within the Festival of Migrant Film in Slovenia, multiple screenings and cultural events in Jordan, through the Pankultikum platform video portal and other viral channels with the aim of promotion of acceptance of diversity and intercultural dialogue. Projected activities will take place in Ljubljana and other towns in Slovenia and in Amman, Jordan.
Additionally, in Jordan the project has been renamed into “Mother land” (always accompanied by the original title – Pankultikum – as a subtitle) so it can be better understood among the local target group and general audience.

Project aims to promote understanding of the intercultural dimension of migrations and cultural capital of migrants as facilitators of intercultural dialogue. Introduction to activist and participatory use of digital media will enable participants to articulate and share their opinions on cultural diversity and promote inclusion of marginalized groups

The project “PLACES OF DIVERSITY - Public Spaces as Field for Intercultural Dialog and Promotion of Social Values” officially began in August 2013 and it will last for 11 months.
In many Mediterranean cities, especially those with less developed democracies, public spaces are often commercialized, or taken up by private capital investments. When planning public spaces the attention is usually devoted mainly to physical appearance, and much less to citizens’ participation in or the messages the space conveys to its users. Bearing this in mind, the project “PLACES OF DIVERSITY” can be an inspiration for those stakeholders who want to see social values promoted in urban spaces in their communities. Although the project will be developed for the towns in Jordan, Montenegro and Albania, the set principles will enable their application in other places.

The project aims to improve intercultural dialog between youth and civil society organizations from Albania, Jordan and Montenegro, through activities that increase citizens participation in promoting social values in urban/public spaces.
Objectives are:

  1. Increasing citizens awareness on intercultural dialogue and social values by using public spaces as a field to promote it
  2. Improving collaboration between actors dealing with urban and social issues in Albania, Jordan and Montenegro, through joint activities in public spaces
  3. Increasing participation of youth and CSOs in joint actions on re-thinking public spaces in Jordan, Montenegro and Albania
