General Information
iPAP (international performing art productions) is managed by Guy Melamed and Arjen Barel (Bureau Barel, the Netherlands). At this moment they are the only persons involved, but we expect to grow to an organization of 10 persons in 2008, partly based in Israel, partly based in Holland. iPAP is now fundraising for the first project: Festival IL.EU. Confronting Cultures. We are now subsidized by Levi Lassen, to build our organization. For this first project we aim to co operate with differt European and Israeli arts organizations (Acco Theater Centre, Idan Raichel, Toneelgroep Alaska, Club Guy and Roni) and governmental organizations (embassies, ministries).
Mission and Objectives

iPAP is a new international cultural organization based in Israel and The Netherland. It’s focus is to create international co operations between fascinating artists in the field of the performing arts. It’s our goal to present those co operations in theatres and at festivals allover Europe (among others in Holland and Austria) and in Israel (and maybe even in the USA).

Main Projects / Activities

The first project of iPAP is festival.il.eu: confronting cultures, a co production project for the 60th anniversary of the state of Israel in 2008: a co production program between Israel and Europe in 2008. This year the state of Israel will exist for 60 years, an occasion the arts cannot ignore. I-pap recognised the need for launching an international organization that can bring together and launch artistic programs and bridge different cultures through a special made production platform.

General Information
Cordaid is based in The Hague, where about 240 staff are employed. Together with 890 professional partner organizations in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America we work to bring over a thousand development projects to a success.Currently we receive a grant from our government which is our main source of funding (70%). Other resources are from donations, EU grants and foundations. Our annual budget in 2010 reached 170 million of which 30 million for humanitarian aid.
Mission and Objectives

Cordaid works towards a sustainable better future for the world’s poorest people and most excluded groups. This is why we fight poverty and exclusion in places where it is most needed and areas that are most difficult to reach: places where armed conflict, underdevelopment and natural disasters hit hardest. We do this hand in hand with 850 local civil society organisations, local communities and, wherever possible, in cooperation with local governments, business and industry.
Together, we engage in a comprehensive poverty-reducing strategy: working towards better and more affordable healthcare and welfare facilities, greater economic self-sufficiency and food security. Where natural disasters occur often, we provide emergency aid in times of crisis. Before they strike, we reduce risks and create early warning systems; after disasters we are part of the reconstruction efforts. In areas in the grip of armed conflict, we reinforce social processes of dialogue, reconciliation and sustainable peace. We fight exclusion by strengthening the position and the voice of the disadvantaged and the oppressed, by empowering them to participate in decision making processes, by promoting transparency and good administration in failing or weak states.
We do this both on the ground, at flashpoints of conflict and in the middle of the most harrowing poverty, and at international forums and policymaking institutions in New York, Geneva and Brussel.
Worldwide, over a billion people live with the impact of armed conflict every day. They struggle with abject poverty, social exclusion, fear and insecurity. Their chances for advancement are minimal at best.
With the Conflict Transformation programme, Cordaid is attempting to use these conflict situations to bring about sustainable, positive change. Development projects in the programme are not only focused on the immediate consequences of a conflict (like relief for refugees) but designed to get at the root causes. People can only better themselves when they are safe, actively involved in solutions, able to assert their rights and in a position to earn their daily bread.
The conflict transformation programme focuses on areas plagued by politically motivated extreme violence, where the population pays the price for the fight between rebels, terrorist organisations, bandits and criminals, army and police. In many countries, like Sudan, the Congo and Guatemala, resource conflicts and political conflicts go hand in hand. The harvesting of natural resources confronts local communities with pollution of the living environment, loss of agricultural land and organised physical violence.

Main Projects / Activities

The work of Cordaid is specifically designed to connect the local with the national and global level in order to engage youth for more peace and security in conflict zones. This work is done together with strategic alliances. We cooperate with network organizations committed and specialized the following: identity building of youth to strengthen their resilience in conflict zones, training of youth in leadership skills to participate in local & (inter)national decision-making with regard to peace and security issues and influencing local & (inter)national policy to engage more youth in local and (inter)national decision making on peace & security.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We can share our expertise by sharing our knowledge on enhancing emerging leadership in the Middle East. We can share our network and invite members of the Anna Lindh network to join us in advocacy on enhancing emerging leadership in the Middle East

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We work in the Middle East on enhancing emerging leadership (particularly youth and women). We seek partnership with like-minded organisations who share the same values with regard to bridge building between communities, peace & security.

Sources of funding: Project funding, assignments, private contributions, etc. Types of projects: Exhibitions, education programmes, lectures, conferences, multimedia experiences, etc. Main partners: Artists and art institutes, festivals, conferences, schools and universities, juridical institutions, among others. Links: www.facebook.com/creativecourt.org www.twitter.com/creative_court http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Court
Mission and Objectives

Concepts of international law and democracy are relatively young and still developing. One may wonder if they will ever be fully perfect. At Creative Court, we believe that it is quite impossible to achieve lasting peace simply through rules and regulations. True peace can only be found through our shared humanity.
Creative Court develops art projects and reflects on peace and justice. We aim to become a leading source of inspiration for human consciousness and connection. We work from the understanding that art has the ability to incite empathy and reflection, vital characteristics for peaceful coexistence.
Creative Court is based in The Hague, seat of the Dutch government and international city of peace and justice.

Main Projects / Activities

We look into challenging issues of current times, unspoken realities of history and related underlying emotions, which are often impossible to put into words. We strive to disrupt common notions, embrace complexity, and walk a path of nuance. We like to question rather than answer, and we prefer showing ‘the other side’ to taking a stand.
At Creative Court, we tell intimate stories that people can personally connect to, share factual information, and pose overarching questions concerning humankind. We collaborate with international artists, curators, journalists, scientists, and many others. Quality, imaginative power and accessibility are key to our work. Preferring to function without a permanent space, the world is our stage.
Our audience ranges from the general public, to people interested in art, society, and human rights, to law specialists and policy makers.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Creative Court stimulates awareness by translating difficult topics into engaging experiences for a wide audience. We think that our way of working may be interesting for other organisations in  the Network.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We are interested in meeting new partners, either from the arts field or from the global justice field, for the purpose of starting up innovative collaborations at the interface of art, peace and justice.
We are specifically open to initiatives related to: (post-)conflict, reconciliation, human rights, democracy, terrorism, colonialism, freedom of expression, gender, modern slavery, cultural identity and refugee issues.

General Information
Ubuntu is an African concept and philosophy with regard to the interconnectedness of human beings. In the words of the South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu: "What you do affects the whole world. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity." In the words of Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee: "I am what I am, because of what we all are." At CS Ubuntu, we apply these notions when exploring the academic field of ‘CS’ – that is: Conflict Studies. Mission The membership of CS Ubuntu consists of (Utrecht University) students who want to acquire a better understanding of human conflict and human rights. As such, CS Ubuntu provides conflict studies- related activities in an international social setting with the combined aims of knowledge sharing, capacity building and career orientation.
Mission and Objectives

As a study association, CS Ubuntu is led by a 3-headed board consisting of students - or recent graduates. The board rotates every year, and is democratically chosen at a general assembly. It consists of the President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer. As the association grows, we expect to extent the board, too.
Funding comes primarily from contributions, and Utrecht University (Ufonds, Vidius) funds and subsidies for specific activities, such as studytrips.
Madalities of action are a yearly studytrip to a post-conflict area, conflict-related excursions, seminar, lectures, as well as social activities.
The activities, excursions, trips etc. are organized by the several committees (activities committee, social committee, studytrip committee, lectures committee, etc.)
CS Ubuntu has recently decided to cooperate with the Ubuntu House in Utrecht,, which provides a place and space for people who have endured poverty, homelessness and social isolation.

Main Projects / Activities

Yearly studytrip to a post-conflict area, where students of conflict studies acquire a better understanding of human conflict and human rights, and all their practicalities and realities.
Moreover, relevant lectures and excursions are organized regularly. These usually entail the providing of a perspective on a topical situation, that academic insight has not yet reached. This is done in a more extended form for the yearly Dies Symposium, which gives a platform to several (prominent) speakers on a relevant topic related to conflict studies.
