To give informations of the political, commercial and social relationships with the Maghreb countries. To give insights in the history and the manifold cultural heritage of the region. To present literature,fine arts, music and films.

Main Projects / Activities

Cultural exchange. 2009: participation of literature events, e. g. International Festival of Literature Berlin, Heidelberger Literaturtage, Bonner Buchnesse Migration, Readings of the new novel of algerian writer Boualem Sansal.Participation of film projects, e. g. "Der lachende Orient" (Laughing Orient) in Cologne. Exhibition of cartoons from the arab world. 2010: Concert of moroccan singer Sapho.

General Information
The German- Syrian Organisation is a non-governmental  and non-profit organisation. It is established in 17/01/2016 by nine founding members in the city of Oldenburg. The budgetary resource of the organisation is from the annual fee of the members which is 20,00 EUR/ erwerbslos 10,00 EUR.  Nowadays, the organisation supports a music-theatre project in the city of Oldenburg. The partner of the project are city Oldenburg, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Evangelische Akademie. The project is directed to the new arrivals to Germany and to the citizen of the city Oldenburg.
Mission and Objectives

The German- Syrian Organisation in Oldenburg aims to supporting the new arrivals (refugees) and the migrates in Germany in the fields of integration and other life necessities like doctors, lawyers, translation and networking with governmental and non-governmental organisations. Another focus of the Organization is on cultural activities and education such as concerts, exhibitions, evening lectures, teaching in addition to cultural and scientific meetings.

Main Projects / Activities

The German- Syrian Organisation was established recently „2016“. Even though it could support many projects such as music teaching in refugees camps, refugees visiting to discuss the difficulties they face and a music-theatre project (Von Kadmus nach Europa – „Die Welt ist groß und Rettung lauert überall“ ) in the city of Oldenburg in cooperation with city Oldenburg, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Evangelische Akademie.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We can contribute to the network in Germany by having cultural, social and political connections and cooperations with other organisation, cultural centres, religious centres  and political parties.

Deutsch-Türkisches Forum Stuttgart (German-Turkish Forum Stuttgart; DTF) is a cultural association, which was founded in 1999 by German and Turkish citizens under presidency of the former mayor Manfred Rommel and the support of the Robert Bosch Foundation. The German-Turkish Forum is supported by a board of trustees of renowned German and Turkish personalities and by more than 380 members of the association. The forum programs are arranged by an honorary chairman and a main department supported by volunteers.
Mission and Objectives

The aim of the forum is to encourage cultural encounters and understanding between Germans and Turkish people living in Germany, especially by cooperation in training and education, art and culture, science and research. Furthermore, the forum facilitates the cultural, scientific and economic relations between Germany and Turkey.

Main Projects / Activities

Special emphasis is put on academic and non-academic education, on cultural music programs, literature, movies, theatre, on supporting and completing other cultural foundations and on organizing manifold meetings and political discussions. Recently the forum has also taken on social questions, which concern German-Turkish Stuttgart citizens.
During all the years of its activities, the German-Turkish Forum has become the most sought after and reliable cooperation partner. Its activities have attracted interest within the Federal Republic of Germany and in Turkey. The initiative of the forum has contributed to the charisma and reputation of Stuttgart, the capital of the federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg. The great effort Stuttgart has made to integrate immigrants successfully has been honoured in the state- and city comparison.

We would like to share our experience and knowledge about intercultural issues in Germany.

The German Association is the national organization of the Souvereign Order of Malta and today has 550 members. It  was established in 1991. The organization controls (92.5%) a charitable entity (Malteser Deutschland gGmbH) which operates hospitals and senior people homes. The GAOM has 5 permanent employees (all part time) and more than 900 volunteers.
Mission and Objectives

The German Association of the Order of Malta is the initiator of various religious works in Germany, i.e. Malteser Hilfsdienst (MHD’s) and its subsidiaries, mainly known for its service in the field of civil protection (first aid and other medical training, emergence aid, catastrophe relief). The Catholic aid organization is represented nationwide at more than 700 locations in its two forms of organization as a registered association (eV) and non-profit GmbH ( gGmbH ). In the governing bodies of both institutions members are working as volunteers and in full-time.

+ Malteser Deutschland gGmbH: Hospitals and senior homes, Refugee Works, First Aid etc.
+ Youth of the Order: a community of young people who are actively involved in social project (more than 20 projects)
+ Pilgrimages to Lourdes and others
+ Middle Eastern Projects: CARAVAN - An intercultural and -religious social gap year for young people in Lebanon; Project Lebanon – Summercamps for disabled people in Lebanon
The Maltese are involving volunteers in charity campaigns and need of care projects.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

The German Association of the Order of Malta is part of the Order of Malta working worldwide. We therefor can provide a wide Network and experience in the humanitarian and social sector.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Expand our network and get new input, especially for the projects concerning the Middle East, ie. CARAVAN (and intercultural and –religious year for young people in Lebanon).

UNESCO has 193 member states. UNESCO headquarters are in Paris. The German Commission for UNESCO (DUK), based in Bonn, is a National Commission established under Article VII of the UNESCO Constitution, and is thus the link between Germany and UNESCO. It acts as an intermediary of foreign cultural and educational policy, and is funded by the Foreign Office. The DUK was founded on the 12th May 1950, even before Germany had been admitted to UNESCO (11th July 1951). Its members – which number around 100 – reflect the broad spectrum of institutions and associations active in Germany in UNESCO’s areas of competence: education, science, culture and communication. UNESCO Associated Schools: Founded in 1953, UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) is a global network of some 7 900 educational institutions in 176 countries, who work in support of quality education in practice.

General Information

The German Youth Hostel Association (DJH) with more than 400 hostels is the largest provider of youth accommodation in Germany. There are about 10 million overnights in DJH hostels every year. DJH as a non-for-profit association has about 2.4 million members supporting the idea of bringing young people together and to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling. DJH offers programs in its hostels, including international exchanges and encounters. Partner associations from all over the world are organized in the International Youth Hostel Federation (Hostelling International).

DJH offers various programs in more than 400 hostels in Germany, for school and university trips, for families, for young backpackers who want to discover the world and to meet other people. We want to join actively the events of the network, be partner in ALF working groups concerning the youth, we can promote the ideas and news of the ALF in our media. We want ot announce our programs within the network, offer ourselves as partner for new projects together with other partners/members of ALF.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We want to deepen our international cooperation with other organizations which aim on respect between people and cultures. We already have many bilateral partners in the Mediterranean area, but we want to be part of a strong multi-lateral network. The ideas of the ALF fit perfectly to the statutory goals of DJH.
