Mission and Objectives

Pedvale Open-Air Art Museum conception is to integrate natural landscape, cultural heritage and art in a unified entirety. The territory covers an area of 100 hectares, formed of wide natural landscapes. Artists occupy the landscape with their presence, ideas, thoughts and their artworks. They are invited to seek inspiration and impressions from nature, and to use environmental motives in their works. In creating their works, artists generally use simple materials available in nature. The landscape comes to form a part of the piece of art, providing the emotive and conceptual content of the work.
Pedvale Open-Air Art Museum has become an important cultural center that is valued by artists and visitors alike.
According to the situation that Latvia was occupied by USSR for 50 years, the main objectives for Pedvale Ltd. is to promote intercultural dialog, cultural exchange in the field of contemporary art and to ensure cultural education process.

Main Projects / Activities

Since 1993 Pedvale offers individual residencies for artists as well as the opportunity to carry out various creative projects individually. Artists from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Ukraine, Switzerland, Spain, the USA, and Japan have worked in the residence. Pedvale Museum also organizes symposia, workshops, exhibitions and other events for sculptors, painters, printmakers, writers and other artists.
Since 2007 Pedvale has a new programme "S.T.O.N.E.” - stone aS a culTural symbOl and inNovative dimEnsion . Stones have an important role in the historical development of mankind and since ancient times people from different cultures ascribe to stones mythical qualities. As a result stone is a cultural symbol for different epochs and nations. The task for the artist is to integrate the cultural heritage into the form of contemporary art and show an innovative dimension in the traditional stone sculpture.

Project Net (PN) is a non-governmental organisation established in 2013. The main aim of PN is EDUCATION for adults, entrepreneurs and senior learners and SOCIAL INCLUSION through educational activities. There are 10 volunteers - professionals co-working to facilitate positive educational change at national level, core Expert team are 5 persons. PN is dedicated to solve social and educational challenges, raise knowledge and social - welfare in Latvia as well as facilitate and promote the best practices, knowledge and gained experience at the international level. The specific areas of key personnel: open innovation, third age university, entrepreneurship education, business incubation, healthy lifestyles, sports, creative thinking, idea management, research on best education practices, creative and cultural industries. Established in 2005. Currently organization has 13 members where 3 of them are members of the board. In every day activities 2 EVS volunteers and up to 10 local volunteers are involved.

Mission and Objectives

The main priorities of the organisation are environmental education and intercultural learning for youngsters. The objectives: To realize non-formal education, Develop young peoples’ creativity and initiatives, Apply sustainable life style in all organization’s activities, such as recycling, reusing, promotion of bio and eco- products, fair trade products and vegetarian diet.

Main Projects / Activities

Radi Vidi Pats is actively taking part in youth projects and has experience while working with European Voluntary Service (as sending, coordinating and hosting volunteers from different countries), Youth exchanges, national youth initiatives and training courses. On the local level since organization is running a bike workshop with specification on freak-bikes and “Do it yourself” philosophy. We propose self-made bicycles for the rent as well as bicycle tours around the Liepaja city. f In May 2011 Radi Vidi Pats was taking part in organizing Baltic-Mediteranean Spring Festival in Liepaja city that was first event in the city promoting EUROMED cooperation and cultural exchange. Since 2011 Radi Vidi Pats is involved in the European Life-long learning programme “Grundtvig” and will start the international activities in autumns 2011.

The mission of the youth organisation TREPES (transl. ladder) is to help young people to reach the next step in their personal development by giving practical tools and raising their awareness of social issues. It is very important for us to be a part of a volunteering community that helps to foster social inclusion and that encourages young people to be socially active and responsible. We are running Creative Clubs in areas such as healthcare, active lifestyle, environment protection, cultural understanding, civic education, volunteering, intergenerational cooperation, charity, youth politics and entrepreneurship.

We are targeting pupils across Riga district, children and teenagers that have come under the attention of social services through Day Centres, Orphanages and Youth Homes. The Riga Jewish Community is a non-profit NGO, registered in Latvia. The Riga Jewish Community operates the Welfare center, Youth center, Community center, museum “Jews in Latvia”, Jewish library, Career development center, as well as a broad network of various organizations and interest groups, aimed at implementing welfare programs and providing educational and cultural activities for all ages.  Mr. Arkady Suharenko - Chairmen of Riga Jewish Community Mrs. Gita Umanovska - executive director of Riga Jewish Community Mr. Ilya Lensky - director of the museum "Jews in Latvia" Budgetary resources avaible in a year for idfferent programmes are about 1 000 000 EUR. The sources of fonding are individual sponsors, international and local foundations, donations for the entrance to the museum and other donations. Activities - walfare aid, concerts, festivals, lectures, projects, seminars, museum and library work. The partners are the Center of the Judaic Studies of the University of Latvia, Lipke memorial, Yad Vashem institute (Isarel), Israeli embassy, German embassy, Austrian embassy, Österreichischer Auslandsdienst (Austria) and others.

Mission and Objectives

Riga Jewish Community main purposes is the development of Jewish culture in Latvia; preservation and popularization of Latvian Jewish history, including the Holocaust commemoration; providing the welfare support to disadvantaged members of the community, including the Holocaust survivors, as well as Righteous Among the Nations. Its objective is also to research, popularize and commemorate the Latvian Jewish history and preserve the Latvian Jewish heritage, as well as to contribute to the growth of tolerance and the concept of diversity in Latvia.

Main Projects / Activities

Activities of the Community include celebration of Jewish holidays, concerts, exhibitions, Shabbat celebrations, educational events, classes of Jewish traditions and religion. The Community organized Days of Jewish Culture in different towns of Latvia. The Community and the museum often and regularly organize lectures by local and foreign lecturers about Jewish history, culture and traditions. Every 2nd year the Community organizes the conference “Jews in the Changing World”.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Riga Jewish Community can contribute to the Network by promoting intercultural dialogue between Latvia and Israel, bringing people and organisations from the Baltic and Israel together, improving mutual respect between cultures and to supporting civil society.

Mission of Riga Technical University is to ensure internationally competitive high quality scientific research, tertiary education, technology transfer and innovation for Latvian national economy and the society. RTU can contribute towards supporting the network members providing up-to-date knowledge in several fields, but in particular, in e-studies technologies, language studies and by engaging international and national students in the network's activities and projects.

General Information

Saldus children and youth centre is a governmental organization. We are working in 3 directions - interest education (dancing, art, theater, music etc.) for children and youth; support and education for teachers and youth workers; support and free time activities for youth. In our center acting pupils council from Saldus district "I and wee". They organize a lot of activities for youth from our district and provide cooperation between self-government and young people. For 3 years we have special Youth initiative and free time centre "Skunis", in which young people can spend their free time or active member from NGO's organize activities for other. Our budget cams from district and town self-government. Main activities – different projects (youth exchanges, youth initiatives etc.); events, discussions, concerts, trainings, camps, seminars, conferences and other after school activities with youth for youth and our district. Main partners – schools, youth organizations from Latvia and Europe.

Mission and Objectives

Mission – to contribute participation and development of children and youth, as individuals and as formal, informal and interest groups. Objectives – to give different possibilities for children and youth in interest education - to promote youth activity and mobility, by using non-formal education and spreading information. - To support and cooperate of and with local youth organizations, interest groups and young people.

Main Projects / Activities

Each year: different concerts, exhibitions and festivals (participants are children and youth from hobby education groups); seminars, discussions, courses, camps for youth leaders, youth workers, teachers; project activities in Latvia and abroad. Example from last youth exchanges – “I am not dangerous, I am different” (in Saldus,2007.) - to structure the understanding and tolerant attitude of young people from different subcultures to participate in common art and culture activities. “Pyramid of friendship” (Turkey, 2008.) – to make pyramid, each side one country with idea to show understanding about world in each nationality. “Jammed” (Lihtenstein,2008) – to make music and record music in international groups. “Liquid life” (Germany - Bulgaria, 2008.)- youth navigates throu the Europe on Viking ships, this time peacefully and altogether. They developed the feeling for the word of “we” and unit a Europe, as ”we are all sitting in the same boat” etc.

General Information

Saldus jauniesu dome « Es un mes » (Saldus youth council « I and we ») is a Non-governmental organization. Basic aims of Saldus youth council ''I and we'' are co-operation and support of local youth organizations and interest groups. We are working with youth workers and youth leaders from Saldus district – for cooperation, sharing experience and getting new skill for youth work. SJD “Es un mes” organizes leisure time activities for youngsters and children of Saldus town and municipality. Organization supports and organizes different local and inter-cultural projects, events, discussions, training's, free time activities and summer camps with youth for youth and for youth workers. Saldus youth council ''I and we'' is a regional coordinator of Eurodesk and program “Erasmus +”. Organization is working on international co-operation, youth mobility projects and EVS. We have 22 active members, mostly volunteers. One person is paid professional youth woker. For financies we are appling for projects in different levels and programs.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to support local youth and youth organizations. Main objectives are to develope competencies of youth - Mostly active paticipation and intercultural learning. As a tool we are using nonformal education. One of the main areas Saldus youth council ''I and we'' is working with is local youth and youth workers on the topic - how to find and develop different methods for better youth work.

Main Projects / Activities

Organization supports and organizes different local and inter-cultural projects, events, discussions, training's, free time activities and summer camps with youth for youth. Organization is getting support for coodination of local youth projects. Organization is working on international co-operation, youth mobility projects and EVS.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We have already experience for organising projects and activities with Meda countries - for example - Training course for youth workers and teachers (from Sweden, Romania, Morocco, Tunisia and Jordan) about non-formal learning. We took part in Training courses in Tunisia and Jordan about intercultural learning and sport. In year 2015, we hade EVS volunteer from Jordan in our organisation. When we hade project partners from Meda countries - we shared our experience and infomation with other organisations from Latvia. We think that we can develope and share our experience even more.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

For long time Saldus youth council "I and we" worked together with Saldus children and youth center. Saldus children and youth center is member in Latvian Network of ALF, although paticipants in all ALF activities in Latvia  usually were  members from Saldus youth council. Also we organised all activities in Saldus conected with ALF, and with Meda countries - activities in frame of intercultual week - on the other shore of mediteranian see. etc.. From year 2007. Saldus youht council is no more working with Saldus children and youth center, but us we already have experience,  we would like to continue cooperation with ALF and bringing more of intrecultural learnining in Saldus district.

Structure of the organization: Director, deputy director of economic matters, Deputy Director of the core issues, Deputy Director of Sports matters, accountant, clerk, project specialist, Youth Initiative Center Manager, Museum Specialist. Source of funding: Saulkrasti district council. Modalities of action: a wide range of activities and events in the fields of culture, sports, youth and arts. Main partners involved in the organization's projects/activities: Saulkrasti municipality council.
Mission and Objectives

Saulkrasti municipal agency "Saulkrasti cultural and sports center" is an institution which is under the supervision of Saulkrasti district council and it is set up to implement the culture and sports event organizing functions of Saulkrasti district council as well as the functions of preservation of traditional cultural heritage, local history, the empowerment of folk creativity and the development of healthy lifestyle.
Saulkrasti municipal agency "Saulkrasti cultural and sports center" is acting in accordance with the Public Agency Law, the Law on Local Governments, the Latvian legislation, the Cabinet of Ministers, and in accordance with Saulkrasti district council's decisions and regulations.
One of the most important long-term objectives of the Agency is to stress the importance of: preserving Saulkrasti county tangible and intangible cultural heritage; strengthening the sense of people belonging to Saulkrasti district; shaping favorable environment to promote the creative diversity of folk art and amateur arts; promoting the development and availability of cultural processes.

Main Projects / Activities

The Agency's primary function is to provide services to residents of Saulkrasti district in the fields of culture, art, people's art, local history and sports.The Agency has in its possession cultural center "Zvejniekciems", Saulkrasti bandstand and park, Saulkrasti sports center, two stadiums and Saulkrasti Public Museum. Some of PA "Saulkrasti culture and sports center" operational objectives are: to create favorable conditions for the diversity and sustainable development of culture and sports in Saulkrasti district; to create the conditions to stimulate positive development of people of all generations in Saulkrasti district; to create stimulating conditions for the diversity and sustainable development of culture and sports in Saulkrasti district and; to create the necessary conditions to stimulate positive self-expression and creative activities of people of all generations in Saulkrasti municipality.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We can contribute to the network in Latvia by organizing activities and events which correspond to the ALF and EuroMed priorities.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

As a cultural institution we are interested in exploring and understanding the different aspects of cultures in the Mediterranean countries and; discovering the common, different and interesting aspects between Latvian culture and that of the Mediterranean countries.
