General Information
GSM-Youth Services Centre was established in 1987 in Ankara Turkey as a firm which has been working on the youth field as a non profit youth organization. Until the beginning of 2005 all its activities have been realized under the statue of firm but on 26th January 2005 GSM changed its statue into non-profit limited company. (Please see enclosed the official decision taken by the board about its being non-profit). GSM first started to organize social and cultural activities for the young people at the local level and has been organizing international youth activities for over 18 years. Since 1987, GSM actively follows and participates in the developments in youth work under Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and also played a very active role in the establishment of international networks aiming to promote youth cooperation in Euro-Mediterranean partnership such as Y.E.S-Youth Exchange and Solidarity-Euro-Med and the Mediterranean Youth Forum. As a founder member of the Mediterranean Youth Forum in Turkey, GSM has taken the initiative to inform the young people and the youth organizations about the Euro-Med Youth Action Program when it was launched in 1998. In order to serve this aim, our project coordinators on a voluntary basis organized a series of seminars in different cities of Turkey in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission to Turkey. GSM's main sources of funding are workcamp registration fees, public national and international (EC,YiA,BC,World Bank etc.) grants. GSM has long lasting partnerships in Europe through its experience of workcamps and international projects over many years.
