La Baudiere Association's aim is to build bridges between East-European Turkish and Middle-eastern music. Our association welcomes musicians interested in Balkanic, Turkish and Middle-eastern music. Their presence during the summer residencies allows them to share the knowledge and practices of their traditions, in a creative perspective.
The second aim of La Baudiere is to transmit the musical language of these regions of the world, by the mean of instrumental and vocal workshops/masterclasses, mainly in summertime.
- Project of musical creation : the Balk'Or Project is the main project of La Baudiere. It is supported by the "Fondation de France" (dispositif des Nouveaux Commanditaires), and rooted in the local context of west France's department Vendée. For the moment, the goal of our work is to construct a show associating music and visual/narrative elements (Karagöz shadow theater, video animations), which shows the contntinuity between balkanic cultures, Turkey, and the arabic countries, as a musical travel.
-The second project is the creation of a Center for musical formation and transmission, strongly linked with Sorbonne University's Faculty of Music an Musicology.
- Proposing musical teaching about Est-European/Turkish/Middle-Eastern traditions makes sense in France as it is related with the curriculum of Diplome d'Etat, Certificat d'Aptitude which allows musicians of these musical traidtions to become teacher of their instrument in french institutions as conservatories or music schools.
-The Balk'Or project, as it is supported by Fondation de France, and rooted in its local context, has an intercultural educative mission.
-It is very important to create bridge between different countries as Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine, Maghreb, by musicians' mobility.
-one of our aims is also developing and supporting women's musical practice, respecting gender parity in our projects.
-We also collaborate with other members of the ALF, as Terra Musica, Maison de l'Europe et de l'Orient. We have already intitiated a collaboration with Tunisia's CMAM.
-We were already registered in the ALF Network, and we hope to develop by this mean our relation with al the ALF network, in particular with Tunisia and Greece. We also admire the very effective work of ALF, and it will be an honour for us to be included in the ALF Network
