Mission and Objectives

Established in 1994 in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides a venue in the Arab world for the interdisciplinary study and rational discussion of intercultural and interreligious issues. RIIFS focuses on promoting common human and ethical values that contribute to strengthening cooperation and interfaith relations, eliminating mutual misconceptions about the ‘other’ and expanding shared commonalities among followers of diverse religions and cultures, regionally and globally.

Main Projects / Activities

1. The Promotion of the ‘Amman Message’ Project Funded by the European Union and contracted by the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, RIIFS is currently implementing the “Promotion of the ‘Amman Message’ Project,” the first initiative of its kind in the Arab world. Launched in September 2012, this two-year project aims to develop and establish a multi-leveled discourse that tackles diverse dimensions of religious conflict, amongst Muslims on the one hand, and between Muslims and non-Muslims on the other. The project is being implemented by RIIFS locally, regionally and internationally through research, conferences and symposia, training programs and publications. 2. MA Program in Religion and Culture RIIFS is currently in the process of establishing a graduate Program in Religion and Culture granting an MA degree accredited by Yarmouk University in Jordan. The program is designed for graduate students from Jordan, the Arab region and abroad, coming from a variety of disciplines, who wish to enrich their knowledge of the role of religions in contemporary societies. This program is very much in line with RIIFS’s vision of fostering deeper mutual understanding between the followers of different faiths. In addition to the MA program, a Certificate Program will also conduct training courses targeting teachers and preachers of religion, designed in cooperation with the Ministries of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Education and Higher Education, as well as other relevant Jordanian institutions. 3. As Head of the Jordanian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, Since November 2010 RIIFS engages the Jordanian civil society organization members, activists and youth, in consultation with the Steering Committee, in organizing activities that are consistent with ALF's strategy. It also represents the network members in the main international ALF events. The goal is to promote acceptance of pluralism, cultural diversity, mutual respect among societies, religions and beliefs and the acknowledgment of the rule of law and fundamental freedoms in the Euro-Med region. RIIFS has established an outstanding track record as National Head of Network in the South.

General Information
Ruwwad Al-Tanmeya is a non-pro_t community development organization that works with disenfranchised communities through education, youth volunteerism and grassroots organizing. Our approach encompasses an array of programs and initiatives that, together, strengthen agency and facilitate redress to problems prioritized by members of the community. Ruwwad is the brainchild of Fadi Ghandour, serial entrepreneur and founder of Aramex International, one of the world’s leading logistics companies. A strong advocate of a more public-spirited and decisive presence for the Arab private sector in the sustainable development of the region, in 2005, Fadi mobilized Aramex and brought together a group of likeminded businessmen with the singular aim of deploying entrepreneurship - talent, resources and skills - in the service of community and to help tackle, however modestly, the inequities that pervade the Arab world. By sheer virtue of its aspirations, Ruwwad embraces pluralism and insists on respect for diversity. Our team’s working framework is activist and participatory, in method and as a matter of principle. Ruwwad’s, in fact, is a continuous conversation with the communities’ various constituencies, as much to invite freewheeling expression and critical thinking as it is to disrupt the status quo and its entrenched interests.
Mission and Objectives

Ruwwad Al-Tanmeya is a non-profit community development organization that works with disenfranchised communities through education, youth volunteerism and grassroots organizing.
Our approach encompasses an array of programs and initiatives that, together, strengthen agency and facilitate redress to problems prioritized by members of the community.

Main Projects / Activities

Ruwwad is a citizen-led model. It utilizes the community service hours of the scholars to create safe learning spaces for children and adolescents; mobilizes the families to launch grassroots campaigns that help engender social change; and advocates for access to rights-based services through various partnerships within the private sector, governmental agencies and the civil society. Supportive action and intervention is developed in collaboration with specialists, where applicable, but always in conversation with the community.
Ruwwad launches community led campaigns that adopt the "organizing methodology," which enables the campaign’s community to tap into its own resources through a strong structure of leadership teams. Ruwwad’s premise is that the people are the experts on the context and they have the insights needed to nudge change. Ruwwad launched its _rst campaign ‘6 Minutes Joy of Reading’ in 2011 and ‘Safe Homes’ campaign to put an end to physical violence against children at homes in 20122013-.
Ruwwad's programs--Child Development, Youth Organizing and Community Support--focus on using inquiry-based learning, psychosocial support and the creative arts as key methodologies.

General Information
SAMAR Media (corporate name: ZSCJ Media Limited) is a Limited Liability Company registered in Cyprus. It mainly operates from Lebanon and covers the whole MENA region. SAMAR Media is headed by Ziyad Clot and Jana Jabbour. Its staff includes 4 employees working from Beyrouth, Cairo and Paris and a network of free-lancers throughout the MENA region. Its yearly budget is within the range of 100,000/150,000 EUR and is generated by sponsorship revenues, grants and donations.  SAMAR’s most recent web programs “Me & My country, 5 years into the Arab uprisings”, “Rap Generation: the Beat of the Street” and “Arabic Dialects” have generated more than 1,5 million views since the start of the year 2016. SAMAR Media often partners with other media outlets, which relay its web programs to wide audiences worldwide. It has worked with international news websites such as The Guardian, France 24, El Pais, The Christian Science Monitor, Jaddaliya etc. SAMAR also coordinates on a project-basis with local actors (NGOs, universities, local institutions) to organize on the ground events such as workshops, conferences or debates on both sides of the Mediterranean.
Mission and Objectives

SAMAR is a web media organization dedicated to the Arab world. It produces and broadcasts videos on the internet in Arabic, English and French and aims to make knowledge, arts and culture available to the widest audience. SAMAR’s main editorial goal is to address the realities and underlying dynamics which are reshaping the Arab region, rather than to cover its most sensational stories. SAMAR also promotes a more positive image of the Arab region and its people through inspiring individuals and innovative projects. SAMAR shares this aspiration with the widest number in the MENA region: SAMAR also finally offers to its followers the opportunity to share their video production and picks with its growing online community.

Main Projects / Activities

Since 2012, SAMAR Media has produced and broadcast more than 200 videos as part of the following web programs:
The Cartoonists of the Arab world, Tahrir, my revolution, The Arab Summer, This is Palestine, Turkey and the Arab World, The New Arab media, The Lebanese of West Africa, Me and my Country: 5 Years into the Arab Uprisings, Rap Generation: The Beat of the street, Arabic Dialects.
These web video series have generated more than 3 million views on the Internet.
SAMAR also regularly organizes public screenings of these series. In June 2016, SAMAR Media also held a conference and a concert at the Villa Méditerranée in Marseilles on the theme « Exile & Migrations in the Mediterranean ». This public event featured musicians and Spoken Words artists from the Arab region and experts of migration issues.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

SAMAR’s media coverage follows a ‘Slow Media’ approach and its video production emphasises the positive energies and creativity of the Arab world and its diaspora. With an ambition to strengthen intercultural dialogue throughout the Mediterranean, SAMAR hopes to develop a synergy with Anna Lindh’s network members in order to shed light on the potential of Mediterranean societies and contribute positively to the many challenges faced in this region.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

The Pan-Arab editorial approach of SAMAR Media led us to work on many projects in and outside the MENA region. We are aware that many challenges Arab countries face today (migrations, security, environment etc.) are shared throughout the Mediterranean zone. However, the perception of these challenges and the way they are addressed often tend to vary from one side of the Mediterranean to the other. Developing partnerships around the Mediterranean with ALF network members will allow SAMAR to cover these challenges through the lens of a regional perspective. Thus, we hope to multiply in the future events that embody a multicultural vision of leading issues related to the Mediterranean region. Joining the ALF Network is an important step towards this ambition.

In April, Generations for Peace, as part of their Sawn Programme for Youth Climate Action, has empowered youth across Jordan to transform from being the most affected by climate change to the most influential in combatting it. Take a look at some snapshots at the link of the Sawn stages since its launch in October 2022, which showcase the remarkable efforts participants have demonstrated throughout the training and in leading community events and initiatives.
