Through the organisation we have been able to assist migrants in enhancing international understanding, integration, and inclusion. We also have been able to create opportunities for migrants to share their culture through music, arts, perfomance and food. We have offered support services to develop our communities and improve the quality of life. Upbeat Music House promotes volunteering by migrants for sustainable development. We work with people coming from diverse backgrounds, and endeavor to meet the needs of our communities through voluntary activities. By promoting inclusion, acceptance, understanding and mutual respect, our programs make a vital contribution to peace and sustainable development. Main Projects / Activities

VisMedNet is the result of consolidation from two Comenius Networks and is therefore exploiting the outputs and results of four years of activities that the members have worked on together in the two networks. It is active in the field of use of audiovisual production in education, internationalisation of schools, intercultural education and youth leadership. It has its own training programme that covers topics like the getting youths to speak about human rights, the internationalisation of education through mobility and the use of innovative teaching practices with the scope of broadening the vision of students in secondary schools. VisMedNet is working with the RICK'S cafe network to introduce new management models for schools that help students, teachers, school management and communities have a global view of social and educational developments happening around them.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We wish to bring into our local network our major resource which is a long life of experience and a wide ranging spectrum of views of our members and of the networks we already form part of. We would like to have the opportunity to learn from the experience of other members of the network in their experience with Mediterranean exchange and dialogue.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

VisMedNet shares the philosophy of Anna Lindh Foundation in the use of dialogue and exchange between teachers and students, between youth leaders and youths. We believe we have an EU wide contribution of experience to dialogue in the Mediterranean and we possess the necessary in-house know how in project management and concepts development in the area. We wish to increase our network with present members of Anna Lindh Foundation because we can see that this will give us the opportunity to speak with the right interlocutors about issues like immigration, changes in social texture and democracy that are very much an issue at the moment all around the Mediterranean basin.

General Information

Xchange was founded in 2017 by Christopher Catrambone, co-founder of humanitarian organisation, Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS). Xchange’s initial projects in 2017 have been sponsored by MOAS, who sought research and analysis to support their operations in Bangladesh. At Xchange, we believe in the power of data to transform public perception on human migration. We dig beyond the headlines to add meaning to numbers and advocate for better knowledge of migration through freely available data visualisation and analysis, as well as in-depth research and reports. Our data is the summary of thousands of individual journeys we recorded in our various surveys.

Mission and Objectives

Xchange was established to investigate and document human movement in countries of origin, transit, and destination through on-the-ground engagement with all stakeholders, most of all migrants themselves, with a view to provide policy makers, State bodies, non-governmental organisations, and the public in general with accurate data which stems directly from field research. Our goal is to cast a spotlight on the information gaps found along the main migratory routes for the benefit of all, not least migrants themselves.

Main Projects / Activities

In our research projects, we have conducted countless interviews, gathered findings, and published reports on matters we believe are important in migration and human rights field. We recently released  in-depth surveys focused on the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and irregular migration routes in the Central Mediterranean. These reports can be found on our website.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We believe that through the exchange of migration-specific research and data, we can generate greater awareness of the phenomenon of human migration. We aspire to turn data into insight, and insight into action. We provide reliable open-source information. As our name suggests, we are eager to work with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, sources, ideas and solutions.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Xchange is reaching out to introduce our organisation and work to NGOS, research institutes, and civil society groups of interest to us. We believe in the importance of advocacy, sharing information, and building long lasting partnerships with other organisations in Malta.
