We are a family initiative that works in the field of cultural heritage with the focus on traditional costumography from 2004. We like a lot to share not only the items we hold in our archive but also the culture behind the items we conserve,  our experience in all this years of work, making it accessible to the large public,to professionals, museum workers,  and to the tourists that pas through Albania.

Mission and Objectives

“Trojet Foundation” was found as en private-project initiative of saving the cultural heritage in costumography born out of the urgent necessity to change the behavior of the public toward the cultural heritage in ethnography and save as much as possible objects from destruction or trafficking. ”Trojet Foudation” is self financed. Our mission : The identification, collection, conservation ,restoring, protection and promotion of movable cultural heritage. The identification, collection, protection and promotion of movable cultural heritage objects. Showcasing these objects to Albanian the public and international visitors; Conserving and restoring cultural artifacts Organizing scientific events on the ethnography of Albania as well as on restoration techniques for this collection. Consulting with international experts on the artifacts’ registration process and conservation Establishing the fundamentals for a restoration laboratory.

Main Projects / Activities

“Trojet Archive” has been collected from 2004 through purchase of objects dating from the 18 th -19 th centuries and the first half of the 20 th century. We have managed to rescue more than 2000 artifacts and rare-value textiles and from all regions of Albania, both rural and urban. During 2011-2012, with the assistance of consultants from the Ethnographic Institute of Albania and the Center for the Inventorying of Cultural Goods, this collection was transformed into the first private archive in Albania. Hundreds of items were restored and preserved in our archive. Whole collection is under a conservation status. In 2012-2013 we built from scratches “Oda” Ethnographic room,at the center of Tirana, open free for the public from 2013-2016 where small part of the collection was displayed. It took 1 year of work and restoration of objects to finish the project.[An oda is a traditional Albanian living room]The public was overwhelmed by the results. Due to the lack of interest from institutions and financement we were forced to close it in 2016 after 3 years of self-financing. Restauration and promotion 15 years of work and hundreds of items restored with minimal tools. Some of them after restoration were unframed with the aim of being protected exposed and promoted as artworks creating a trend in interior design not only in Tirana .As result today thousand of object are protected by individuals in all territory and there is continuing growing demand of individuals asking for assistance. “One of the main reasons why we do this are the children” Some of permanent activities are with childrens. Exibitions There are countless number of exhibitions and conferences all selfinanced. National Museum,Marubi Museum Shkodra,Ministry of Culture,Presidencial Palace, with the focus on the education of public and institutions on the protection of cultural heritage. As an organization that was built organically from the ground up we understand the importance of collaboration and working jointly with others to promote various matters. WCDCA will contribute to the implementation of national strategies for the promotion of culture and cultural dialogue with other similar initiatives around the world to respond to challenges and needs in the community and beyond. Collaborating with network members will enable us to share good practices and identify needs based on our local context. An important component is capacity building of young people and their promotion through cultural education in initiatives that promote their voice and build sustainable communities. Also one of the issues of interest is the contribution we can offer in promoting interfaith dialogue with various actors in society to develop and protect religious harmony and tolerance in the country and beyond through joint initiatives.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Our interest in joining the ALF Network comes as a result of the background of the organization, which in its status has the main focus on developing cultural dialogue and increasing the capacity of young people in this field. WCDCA is the first organization to lobby for the development of interfaith dialogue with a focus on women and their role.
