General Information
The Egyptian Initiative for Development is a non-for-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) founded by experienced Egyptian civil societal activists to focus on the governorates outside of Cairo. The Egyptian Initiative for Development aims to bridge the gap in Egyptian civil society. Most NGOs focus on the capital, Upper Egypt and Alexandria but no NGOs work in Siwa or Marsa Matrouh. As such, the citizens of these Governorates are in dire need of the support of human rights organizations. And thus , the members of the Egyptian Initiative for Development decided to focus on these Governorates. The Egyptian Initiative for Development is an independent foundation working in the field of social and economic rights promotion, the spread of democratic practices, and the guarantee of social justice for all members of society. It aims to accomplish these objectives via training and education programs on human rights and civil education. The Egyptian Initiative for Development also aims to create development programs via direct and indirect training and education programs. The idea of establishing the foundation emerged from a desire to work with all members of marginalized communities – men, women, and children alike – and to create a society of equality and social justice in which all members have equal obligations and rights. For, the marginalization of any member or group due to its beliefs, race, religion or sex is not acceptable.
