General Information
The Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) issued on 1989 from the Community of Sant'Egidio (1968), free association of lay men and women who, moved by their Christian faith, lead lives of solidarity with the poorest and those injured by life. The Community of Sant'Egidio counts 70.000 members around the world in 50 countries. All members are volunteers. A great part of the activities with the poor is self financed, also through a network of solidarity between the Communities that live in richer countries and those who are active in the poorest part of the world. The Community also systematically organizes the collection of goods such as drugs, food, clothes. Important projects are financed by individuals or entities always by means of voluntary contribution. The initiatives of solidarity and the humanitarian actions are characterized by an extreme flexibility and they are undergone substantial evolutions during the years.
Mission and Objectives

Mission: implementation of the humanitarian activities of the Community of Sant'Egidio.
Friendship among people of different nations and cultures is the everyday way to express this international fraternity. In a world which, at the end of the second millennium is raising barriers and emphasizing national and cultural differences so much that they become the cause of old and new conflicts, the communities of Sant'Egidio testify to the existence of a common destiny not only for Christians, but for everybody. All the services of the Community of Sant'Egidio are services to reconciliation and peace. Thus the emphasize on peace that is common to all the services of the Community. "Nobody is ever so poor not to be able to help another": this principle inspires great part of the humanitarian work of the Community of Sant'Egidio, that promotes a culture of solidarity wherever it operates.

General Information

De Amicitia is an NGO and not for profit or any political ties. We have a team composed by active members, volunteers and 4 permanent workers. Our modalities of action include international volunteer camps, but also activities in local areas such as reforestation. In addition, De Amicitia participates in international exchanges and seminars for young people, both as a host and a sending organization. These focus mainly on social activities and the promotion of development, peace and human rights.
Regarding the sources of funding, De Amicitia mainly has membership fees, grants for Erasmus + projects and some specific grants from city councils or organizations such as the Madrid Community Youth Council. The partners of our projects are town councils and associations, as well as foreign organizations that are part of the Alliance network. The approximate annual budget is 90.000€, of which 70% comes from Erasmus +, 25% from the membership fee and 5% from municipalities and small donors.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is based on rural development and non formal education through volunteering activities and workcamps. All of our volunteer projects have a solidarity objective that seeks to improve the quality of life of a specific locality or community. At the same time, we seek to develop social and organizational capacities of young people and adults who, as volunteers, can improve values such as interculturality, tolerance, environmental protection, and the importance of peace. We mostly develop activities for youth and education, especially promoting the inclusion of those with fewer opportunities.
De Amicitia is also active in the WWOOF network for organic farming and leads other local projects. In this way, one of the main objectives of De Amicitia is to promote the development of rural areas, promoting agriculture, organic livestock and beekeeping.

Main Projects / Activities

De Amicitia offers its volunteers (both adults and young people) the opportunity to participate in local and international volunteering activities, mainly based in environmental protection and sustainable development, through international volunteer fields and activities in national and regional projects.
In addition, it also participates in international youth seminars and exchanges as a host organization and sending volunteers, mainly in matters of social action and promotion of development, democracy and human rights.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We would love to collaborate with Anna Lindh Foundation in the empowerment of young voices, which have a lot to say nowadays. Our projects allow young people of different nationalities to be in contact and, at the same time, to work in the construction of more open and inclusive communities that can confront extremist discourses that endanger the values of democracy. In this way, De Amicitia's volunteer projects encourage the exchange of ideas and dialogues between people of different nationalities, while helping to improve community development, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Being a member of ALF Network would allow us to stay in contact with other youth associations in the Mediterranean, with the aim of being able to improve and strengthen the dialogue between us. Likewise, belonging to ALF would allow us to participate in the different calls for grants and activities promoted by the Foundation. Finally, membership in this foundation allows us to be more informed of all the initiatives and actions carried out by the Foundation itself that contribute to the fulfilment of common objectives.

General Information
deba-t.org is a youth platform which through colloquiums, roundtables, conferences and electoral debates will foster critical debate from a multidisciplinary perspective not aligned with any partisan position. Our aim is to create a common ground for critical thinking for the youth of the city of Barcelona, not only in a universitary level but for the youth of all grounds of expertise.  deba-t.org was founded in 2009 by three restless students who wanted to know the Spanish and Catalan political situation beyond the teaching plan that their university courses offered. For this reason, they created an association that created spaces of approximation between the student's community and the political world. For this, they began to organize events with political profiles of the moment such as presidents, councilliers, business C.E.O and other rellevant actors of our society that lasted until today, when deba-t has become a reference association within the civil society groups.
Mission and Objectives

As described in our website, our main objectives are encouraging critical thinking among youngsters and advocacy for the actors we reunite with, giving the student community discussion spaces to generate and debate our main agenda issues, and finding new approaches to understand or solve those issues.
Related to the previous objectives, our main values are: ideological independence (in order to make everyone confortable in the discussion environment), democracy (as a tool to encourage and promote critical thinking), respect and tolerance (as the common path to built proposals together), plurality and diversity (as the only possible way to create a common consensus) and a commitment to the associative and studentship (as they are the reason of our action and activities).

Main Projects / Activities

As a youth association, our main activities are the following ones:
- Colloquioum: it is an encounter between a reduced group of young leaders and a rellevant person, such as presidents, civil society movements's leaders, activists, ministers, DGs or SG to talk about their career or area of expertise.
- Round tables: it is an encounter between a reduced group of young leaders and an expert or reduced group of experts to discuss critically about an issue, where the voice of each member is equally listened. This format encourages critical thinking and generates ways to raise awareness about some topics, as well as to get to the roots of it using the previous preparation and the expertise of our guests.
- Conferences: this format is the one which better fits our public visibility, as it is a format where we invite a guest regarding its field of expertise in order to give us a chat about a concrete topic. This format is opened to the whole student community with the aim to visibilise our task and also to raise awareness on a concret topic among students.
- Exchange programs: we organise yearly exchange programs with other student organisation and colleges in Madrid and we are planning to do the same with other Mediterranien countries. The result is really good because it gives our associates the chance to not only engage and interact with other young leaders but the chance to understand our common problems or threats from different perspectives.
- Candidate debates: it is our biggest event and it involves the whole university. The idea of candidate debates is to generate a space between candidates and the studentship to get the polititians closer to the university and , with that, enable students to interact and make their demands in the university area. It makes us proud to be the only association who throws a candidate debate for every single election and our will is to continue with such a challenging activity.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

The task that we promote as deba-t is perfectly compatible with other environments and universities. Our aim is to export the deba-t format to other associations as well as to grow and learn from other ways to generate debate and discussion among youngsters. We would also like to interact with other intiatives and try to help them or to get involved in more challenging formats that can unite our efforts and create a bigger impact in our society.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We have already participated in different initiatives that are entitled in the ALF Network, such as debates from the Young Med Voices programme, young leaders reunions organised by the IEMed and the EDDs conferences in Brussells. The huge impact it had and the new techniques of debate it teached us made us realise the importance to get involved in such network. We also got recommendations to join it and here, we decide to take the first step.

DECIDES Europe – Youth Ambassadors for the Prevention of Gender-Based Violence

الصورة
Picture Decides Ya

DECIDES Europe – Youth Ambassadors for the Prevention of Gender-based Violence (DECIDES YA) is a new project that builds on the extensive experience in working to prevent and combat gender-based violence of  its four partners (Interarts and Coeducacció from Spain, Aproximar from Portugal, Association Transcena from Romania, and Anthropolis Association from Hungary), specifically through socially engaged participatory methodologies and techniques. It is financed by the EU under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV).

The project’s main objective is to contribute to primary prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) by building new narratives through youth’s lenses (aged 12 to 17), addressing root causes and empowering young people to be ambassadors of gender equality.  In fact, DECIDES YA draws on the findings and lessons learned from the earlier DECIDES Europe project, which was conducted by Interarts (Spain) in collaboration with Transcena (Romania), Trabe (Spain), and Kvindemuseet (Women’s Museum – Denmark).

All  four countries where the project will take place show a worryingly high rate of GBV (40% in Spain, 35% in Romania, 68% in Portugal against the 2021 FRA EU average of 35%, and only Hungary with a lower index of 18%), according to the UN Women global database on violence against women, the surveys by the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union (FRA), and the publications of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).

In this framework, the project seeks to make young people aware of the existence of GBV, able to identify it, reject it as a relationship model, and be agents of change within their communities and beyond. Therefore, the project’s specific goals are:

  1. To contribute, through socially engaged practice, to positive attitudes and behaviours from young people (aged 12-17), their entourages (parents, teachers, friends, trainers and youth workers) and relevant stakeholders in relation to GBV.
  2. To empower youth in tackling prejudices, stereotypes, cultural and social norms related to different forms of GBV and in speaking up against GBV.
  3. To ensure transnational knowledge sharing and capacity building between young people and relevant stakeholders about experiences, perspectives, tools and methodologies to develop and implement strategies at all levels.
  4. To increase the visibility of, and improve stakeholders’ awareness and knowledge on GBV, its forms, causes and related stereotypes, prejudices and social norms; and on how to address them for public recognition and social behavioural change.

Project activities will include theatre exercises that will develop skills such as critical thinking and empathy, by being able to look into one’s own experience and share it with the group.

Digital Storytelling will provide opportunities to work individually and in groups, to reflect on, and address injustices and social constructed stigma. Other activities include youth-led dialogue and debate, as well as awareness raising campaigns.

Duration of the project: 24 months starting from January 2023
