General Information
Our association is called Aceel association for Arts and culture. It is founded recently in August 2013 in Al Hancha City,a small village dependent to the governorate of Sfax in the South of Tunisia, which is deprived from cultural act. It aims at creating and promoting a cultural environment in the rural areas which are marginalized and excluded from artistic and cultural acts and events. The association works on organizing projects targeted on people of all ages; children, students, men, women… The number of stuff employed in our association is 9 and we are partnered with the house of culture in Al Hancha city and the ministry of culture in Tunisia where we receive grants and logistic help from them. For funding, we are relying on the memberships and an American NGO called Legacy International that funded us a small project. Actually, we are looking for other opportunities of funding from other sources. We have so far organized projects and founded a music club. Among these projects we can mention exhibition, music and theater clubs, workshops about plastic arts and sculpture. Now, we are working on project of spreading the culture of cinema in the rural areas by screening movies in the public places and at schools after getting permission from the regional commissary of education. We are applying for you to be part of the ALF network and to boost our chances of working with other associations worldwide and to expand to other sources of funding.
Mission and Objectives

In Tunisia, the cultural status needs to be developed and reviewed especially in the rural areas that have been marginalized and deprived from their rights for decades including the cultural rights. Creating and promoting a cultural environment is not only the responsibility of the government but also the civil society. In this context, we founded our association out of our strong belief that promoting culture and arts, as the right of every citizen,is very important for national development and for creating aware. So our main objectives are: - Activating the role of culture in promoting the society and in making change. - Creating a cultural environment in the marginalized rural areas. - Developing the personality and knowledge of the participants and introducing to other cultures, civilizations, ideas of other peoples through the cinema. - Spreading the principle of citizenship and human rights by projecting videos and short films regarding this culture. - Helping in implementing the charter of human rights concerning the cultural rights as the rights of the third generation and therefore giving the chance to the citizens in the marginalized rural areas to enjoy their cultural rights - Giving a chance for the youths to promote their rights in creation. - Entertainment

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Our association is very interested to be part of the Anna Lindh Foundation network, such a well known international organization that aims to bring people together and promote intercultural dialogue. It works on different issues including the vision of our association which is promoting t culture and arts to create a sound and open society. ALF works on building capacity of young activists worldwide and developing leadership skills for the purpose of promoting the culture of peace and dialogue between cultures. The Anna Lindh Foundation facilitates and supports the action of civil society of the Euro-Mediterranean Region in priority fields which affects the capacity for individuals and groups to share values and live together. The Foundation’s program is focused on activities in fields which are essential for human and social dialogue: Education and Youth; Culture and Arts; Peace and Co-existence; Values, Religion and Spirituality; Cities and Migration; Media. We are so eager to join the ALF network because it would be very advantageous and beneficial to have access to all the ANF programs and projects and to have the possibility to participate in exchange programs and learning from other young activists and leaders worldwide. It would be an excellent opportunity to open up horizons to introduce to other young leaders and activists working on different issues especially the issues related to culture and arts. Our membership within the ALF network is an excellent opportunity to share ideas, experiences and expertise and to strengthen mutual understanding of our countries. It is also an opportunity to make connections as it is a chance to present our past and future projects and contribution to society and to discuss about them to look for a possibility of future cooperation with some young activists. This program would also be a sort of cultural exchange as I will have the chance to participate in certain programs organized by ALF to build bridges of understanding between our different cultures, develop the intercultural dialogue and move beyond stereotypes. Our association has already participated in one of the ALF programs which is Dawrak program. We took part in Arts for social Change program that took place in Amman in March 2014 and it has been so fruitful and beneficial for the career of our association. Our participation has open us the door to know other talented artists in the Arab region and we have already embarked on a project with some young artists in Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt. So being part of the ALF network would open up more horizons to move on and to develop our association through interaction with other worldwide associations and young activists.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

The purpose of this network is to create a global village and to share the universal values through the civil society actors. Our membership in the ALF network would be beneficial to our association and to the community we work in by putting into practice what we learn by participating in all the projects and programs of the ALF related to our vision and creating a network that combines activists from different countries to work together and to interact with each other. Our association will adopt the philosophy of the network that aims at creating intercultural dialogue and fostering the civil society by being updated to all conferences and programs of the network and implementing some of its projects in our country, by putting into practice what we have learnt from our participation in some of the foundation programs and by transferring knowledge to other activists in my country.
