General Information
Founded in 1960, and one of the oldest and largest universities in Lebanon, Beirut Arab University (BAU) is a private Lebanese institution for higher education and is recognized as a significant leader in teaching. The University consists of four campuses in Beirut, Debbieh, Tripoli and Bekaa that comprise 998 faculty members and 567 of staff and workers. BAU currently consists of the following 10 faculties: 1. Faculty of Arts 2. Faculty of Law and Political Science 3. Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration 4. Faculty of Architectural Engineering 5. Faculty of Engineering 6. Faculty of Science 7. Faculty of Pharmacy 8. Faculty of Medicine 9. Faculty of Dentistry 10. Faculty of Health Sciences Beirut Arab University has shown a great interest in academic cooperation with the local and international institutions concerned with higher education. BAU is a member in many Unions and has signed many agreements with different organizations.
Mission and Objectives

Mission:
The core mission of Beirut Arab University is to achieve an outstanding standard through excellence in education, learning, and research whilst meeting the needs of our community and adhering to our academic values of intellectual freedom, integrity and professionalism.
Vision:
BAU is committed to ensuring that the processes of learning, teaching and assessment evolve to cope with the requirements of lifelong learning.
Beirut Arab University has a clear academic vision:
1-To provide education and training to students as well as society on a local, regional and international level.
2-To extend knowledge through research and technology.
3-To contribute significantly to the advancement of education, knowledge and research through participation in academic, business and cultural collaborations.
4-To strengthen our core intellectual disciplines and open new channels to scientific understanding in non-traditional fields.
5-To produce graduates prepared for responsibility and capable of meeting global challenges.

Main Projects / Activities

Beirut Arab University has established the Human Rights Center (HRC) to spread the culture of human rights and dialogue; and also to introduce the values of human rights at the university and there from in the society.
The Human Rights Center organizes numerous activities, including workshops, training programs and others.
In addition, the Environmental Research Center (ERC) was recently established to perform, stimulate high quality environmental and social research and creative endeavors to understand environmental and social problems and their impact on human wellbeing.
BAU has also established the Center for Entrepreneurship to promote and spread the culture of entrepreneurship (self-employment) and the center for consultation that was founded to meet the lifelong learning through Continuing Education Program (CEP). Furthermore, other centers like Language Center and Media Center were established to keep BAU’s mission of providing excellence in education, knowledge advancement and serving the region and national community.
