General Information
The Center for Development Services (CDS) is an employee-owned development entrepreneurial venture that empoloyes around 60 employees and consultants.  CDS parters with a diverse network consisting of both national and international entities as well as governmental and non-governmental entities. Among the most inportant partners are CRISP e.V, CREA, the Word Bank and a number of Egyptian ministries, etc.   The budgetray resources available in a year amount to around €2,183,733. CDS receives funding from a wide range of clients including governmental agencies such as Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) and multinational development agencies such as the European Union (EU) and non-governmental organizatios and foundations such as the Ford Foundationa and CARE International.  CDS uses innovative approaches to mobilize technical and financial support for development endeavors in Egypt and the Middle East.Participation, Partnership, and Gender equity are the key approaches and overall outcomes of CDS activities. These approaches have been introduced and developed by academics and development practitioners as effective vehicles for promoting economic growth, alleviating poverty and achieving social justice. CDS has been employing a Collaborative Community Action (CCA) approach, Participatory Rapid Appraisal (PRA) methodology, utilizes Community Based Monitoring (CBM) and participatory self evaluation as the main approaches guiding all of its work in development.
Mission and Objectives

We identify practical and creative solutions for development-related problems, and build mechanisms which allow people and organizations to use their resources effectively to improve standards of living, human and organizational capabilities, health and the environment.
Through consulting, research, project implementation and cross-sector collaboration, CDS leverages its expertise in four program areas: natural resources and environment, health management and research, human capital development and partnership development. Our expertise guides communities and organizations towards sustainable development, enabling them to bring about a better future.
The Center for Development Services (CDS) was established with the mission "to support people and organizations realize their full potential and foster self-determined, self-sustaining change."

Main Projects / Activities

Among the main highlights of CDS' most recent projects are:
1. Capacity Building Training, International Organization for Migration (IOM), 2015

Provides a training program to refugees of youth and adolescent boys and girls with a focus on capacity building.  This will equip them with key life skills, employability and entrepreneurial skills in preparation for developing their skills.
2. Addressing the Needs of Children and Adolescents Living with HIV in Egypt and Chad, 2015 (UNICEF)

Provide support and care to children and adolescents living with HIV, ensure they have access to proper health care and psychosocial support, equip them with the knowledge and skills that would improve their livelihoods, reduce stigma towards them
3. Coexistence Initiative in Masaken Osman, 2015

Aims at enabling Egyptian and Syrian youth demonstrate enhanced sense of commitment towards peaceful coexistence and alleviating the risks of irregular migration through social engagement within their communities.
4. 2. Simulation Gaming on Simulating Egyptian Transition (SET III), 2015

CRISP NGO and the Center for Development Services (CDS) organized a Training workshop on using Simulation Gaming under Simulating Egyptian Transition Program (SET) which trained 30 trainers from all over Egypt, with the aim of enabling civil society actors to employ the Simulation Gaming method.
