General Information
The Department of Social Development (DMO) is part of the city government of Amsterdam. The department is responsible for youth, education, arts and culture, sports and diversity.
Mission and Objectives
Within its international policy the city of Amsterdam focuses on those countries where a large part of the city's population originates from: Turkey, Morocco, Surinam, Ghana and the Antilles. The Department of Social Development contributes to the implementation of this policy by exchanging best practises and expertise with partners in those countries in the fields that fall within its professional scope.
Main Projects / Activities
DMO is involved in projects in the countries mentioned above most actively in Surinam and Morocco. Projects relate to youth, education and arts and culture.
