General Information

El-Wedad Society for Community Rehabilitation (WSCR) is a nonprofit nongovernmental organization. It was established in March, 2001 to provide psychosocial and educational rehabilitation services, in addition to the development of the local community in Gaza Strip. It mainly targets children, women, youth, and elderlies where they receive equal services including training, counseling, guidance, and awareness in psychosocial and educational fields.

Mission and Objectives

Vision "We look forward to the advancement of the local community and the reaching of the social balance." Mission WSCR is working on community rehabilitation and development through providing social, educational, and psychological equal services to several targeted beneficiaries. Goal Achieving community-based sustainable development through programs that meet the Palestinian society's needs.

Main Projects / Activities

A. Women and Child Support and Rehabilitation Program: A.1 Objectives: • Enhancing educational, social, and behavioral capabilities of children; • Raising parents' awareness of different children's issues; • Raising women's awareness of their social and psychological issues and rights; • Empowering the role of women in Palestinian society; • Working on enhancing civil society's principles among women and children. A.2 Target Groups: This program targets children - up to 15 years old - and women. A.3 Program Achievements The Projects' services were provided to 12,580 beneficiaries who had direct services from the projects under “Women and Child Support and Rehabilitation Program”. Gender percentage in this program is 52%. B. Rwad Youth Development Forum: B.1 Objectives: • Enhancing the social, educational and leadership capabilities of youth; • Increasing youth's participation in various fields; • Supporting community and youth initiatives; • Enhancing youth culture and principles of the civil society; • Encouraging voluntary inspiration among youth. B.2 Target Groups: The program targets male and female youths aged 18 to 30 years old. B.3 Program Achievement The Projects' services were provided to 6,926 beneficiaries who had direct services from the projects under the “Rwad Youth Development Forum”. C. Program of social and economic support of family & elderly C.1 Objectives: • Rehabilitating and enabling of Palestinian family to strengthen marriage relations and have families' relations based on love and understanding; • Enhancing community's values and principles among families; • Reintegrating elderlies in the Palestinian community and enabling them to play their roles in their community; • Decreasing the psychosocial problems among elderlies; • Studying negative social phenomena in the community in order to facilitate any possible intervention and elimination. C.2 Target Group: The program targets couples, families, and elderlies in the Palestinian society. C.3 Program Achievement Projects' services were provided to 6,540 beneficiaries from the projects under “Program of social and economic support of family”. Gender percentage in this program is 73%.
