Main Projects / Activities

Inkitab Kids
Inkitab Kids is a project that aims to encourage children to read in Arabic and reinforces their relationship with the Arabic language. It also provides the kids with a safe and friendly atmosphere where they can unleash their creativity. The book club is held twice a month during which book-reading and other learning activities take place in the forms of story-telling and games.

Khotwa
A new project launched by Inkitab to enhance the role of reading groups in creating and spreading culture. Khotwa aims to establish book clubs and reading groups in various Jordanian governorates by holding their hands to take their very first step in the world of book clubs. The project is based on holding 8 book discussions during 4 months based on a pre-prepared plan.
Members of the book club will meet every two weeks to discuss a book in a suitable public space.

Hopes for Women Book Club
The Hopes Book Club Meetings launched November 3rd, 2012 is an effort to begin to promote reading amongst the Hopes students. Book clubs can help develop literacy skills, while also developing their analyzing and critical-thinking skills.
The Hopes Book Club can also help foster positive relationships and communication skills amongst their friends and peers. We are always looking for companies and sponsors to help promote our book-club meetings.
Noon Bookfair
Noon – Inkitab’s second hand bookfair is a non-for-profit initiative that aims to enhance a culture of knowledge sharing and enabling low-income earners of buying and reading books.
It is all about passing on books to others by selling them cheap to allow more people to read and learn while at the same time helping people get rid of old books occupying personal spaces in their homes and replace them with new ones.
With the help of young enthusiastic volunteers; Inkitab has organized 4 successful bookfairs so far in Amman and Irbid, and managed to sell 3000 books in the 1st second hand bookfair ever, 8000 books in the second, 12,000 in the 3rd bookfair that took place on Cultural Street in Shmeisani and finally Noon had an unprecedented success in the 4th and largest bookfair in which almost 30,000 books were sold and 7000 book lover showed up during the 2-day event. Noon would not have achieved any of this without the help and support of more than 150 volunteers who took part in gathering, classifying and selling books with such determination and big smiles.
Noon has started out as an opportunity for everyone to get books with affordable prices but gradually turned into a cultural festival. Besides selling books; Noon included book signing events for well-known and aspiring Arab writers in addition to specialized booths for everything related to reading.
