- Democracy and community development
Mezitli City Council has only one employee. This organization, which we call a non-governmental organization, is carried out on a voluntary basis and is funded by Mersin Mezitli Municipality. There are 550 volunteers actively working in Mezitli City Council. Since 2011, many actions such as scholarships, projects and concerts have been carried out.
Mezitli City Council, which is under the main roof of pluralist democracy, works on a voluntary basis and ensures that people come together. It is a non-governmental organization that conveys environmental, cultural, and economic problems and solutions to public and public institutions, acts as an intermediary, and is the voice of the people.
There are many projects realized with the participation of 550 volunteers. In addition to projects such as Classroom Construction for Special Students, Children's Seed Workshop, Culture and Art Street, Disabled House for Disabled Individuals, and Bicycle House, a major project has also been realized that will contribute to the global street economy and the visibility of women by creating spaces where housewives can achieve their own economic freedom. At the same time, Art Stops were built for the visibility of street artists.
It will be one of our biggest goals to be involved in the mission of the Anna Lindh Foundation to bring together the communities in the Mediterranean, to undertake this mission in our own region, and contribute to the expansion of this network. We can make this contribution by realizing more civil society projects or by expanding our existing projects.
We have been the voice of the people in our region all this time, and we want to raise this voice higher, to be the voice of even more people.
