Mission and Objectives

Mothers' School Society Goals:
1. Raising education capacity for mothers and young housewives
2. Reduction of psychological, social and healthy problems of women.
3. Developing women’s community participation in the political and social areas.
4. Developing existing cooperatives and increasing its number.
5. Upgrading the Capacity Building of the society Staff
Mothers' School Society Vision: Democratic Palestinian Society dominated by social justice and equality, to insure active women’s participation in public life.
Mothers School Society Mission: Palestinian women independent charity society registered with the Palestinian interior ministry under number (NA-774-c). Seeks to upgrade the role and the location of Palestinian woman within the family and society, through empowering her in the fields of education, culture, economic, human rights and health and strengthening the creative capacity of the children.

Main Projects / Activities

Descriptions of the Mothers' School Society programs:
Mothers School Society mainly works within six programs:
First: Education Program:
The Education constitutes the backbone of Mothers’ School idea; this program depends on teaching the main subjects of Arabic, English and mathematics, using books derived from the basic stage curricula that were prepared particularly for mothers by supervisors in education directorate.
These books reflected the developed Palestinian modern curricula, they are being taught in one semester of five months three classes in the week with duration of 2 hours, and the academic year includes two classes. The average number of participants in each semesters reaches to 25.
Second: awareness program
Awareness Program works on the implementation of psychological, health, educational and human rights awareness as a supporting and complementary program for the education program. This program came because of women’s urgent need which came as a result of the Palestinian circumstances that the women live within it. This program is based on many areas and it is implementing in the society as one lecture weekly in all the Society's location. The area that the program covers are:
1. Health Awareness and Medical Day: The focus of health awareness and medical days is on issues like maternal and childhood, general and school health in addition to medical days and examination for women and children. The society organizes extensive medical days in its locations in cooperation with the Union of Health Care Committee. This includes tests for- breast cancer, in cooperation with Family Planning Association through the mobile clinics, and osteoporosis tests in cooperation with Small Hands Committee Furthermore, the society hosted specialized doctors in alternative medicine from Britain who offered acupuncture treatment for 1500 medical cases over three stages.
2. Physiological and Educational sides: This includes the following subjects: Self esteem, family relations, dealing with the adolescents, children’s behavioral problems, early marriage, psychological unloading, learning disorder, learning retardation.
3. Legislative Counseling side and Women’s Rights Issues: It handles democratic subjects, human rights, woman and elections, quotas, women laws and legislation, personal status law
Third: Summer Camps and open days for children
Since its foundation, Mothers’ School intended to create integration in its work and targeted the mother and her child in the implementation of its programs, therefore the society carries out Summer programs for children including summer camps and open days which aim to lessen psychological pressure on children, and use their free time during the summer holiday and to strengthen the creative capacity of the children. The society organized a summer camp in each location for both sexes over a period of two weeks. in addition to a series of open days executed by a group of well trained staff, supervisors and volunteers.

Fifth: Vocational rehabilitation program: the society holds training and rehabilitation courses for women including sessions on food manufacture, computer, making curtains, cosmetics, embroidery, first aid and fitness.
The society created women cooperatives in several locations covering different areas- including sewing, grain thyme milling and provided them with machinery and tools required for that, in addition to special training entitled ( how to start your business) aimed at empowering women to contribute in enhancing living standards of their families.

Sixth: Fund program and orphans insurance:
In collaboration with a number of solidarity institutions the society was able to provide material assistance for needy families and orphans . This included:
• Food parcels and vouchers for clothing, shoes and school bags
• Ensure orphans.
• Provide scholarships for a number of university students
Staff Empowerment Program: It includes:
• Training of teachers, coordinators, and business school team in collaboration with the Directorate of Education.
• Personnel training for the society in the following Topics :
1. How to do the planning process
2. Define the mechanisms of human institution resources planning.
3. Determine the mechanism of administrative guidance
4. Monitoring and Evaluation
5. Team’s work skills
6. Make decisions and solve problems
• Administrative capacity building which was a part of a project for technical assistance to institutions, and included the training of staff the following topics: seminars on the preparation, implementation and development of mechanisms for institution to communicate with the public, in monitoring and evaluation and identification of needs, organizational structure, and strategic planning..
