General Information
Music Society "Balalajki" is a non-governmental organization established in 1998 in Lodz, Poland. It is managed by a board elected by all members, yet it usually does not employ staff. The budgetary resources are different in different years, depending on the kind and number of projects being realized. Sources of funding: donations, institutional resources connected with realized projects, membership fees. Modalities of action: e.g. "Music and folklore in function of social inclusion" - Youth in Action project in cooperation with Croatian organization, comprising international music workshops, concerts and other actions directed at intercultural integration of young people; "Constellation of masters" - participation in international music festival in Moscow comprising music workshops, concerts and integration; "Silva musica" - project realized for the Lodz City Council comprising music workshops, concerts and recording CD.
Mission and Objectives

Music Society "Bałałajki" is a non-governmental organization focused on enabling young people, primarily non-professional musicians, to play music together, to integrate through common artistic and recreational activities and to deepen their knowledge on music and culture by cooperation with young people from other regions and countries.

Main Projects / Activities

Teaching young people playing Slavonic instruments, providing them with knowledge on folk music (especially Slavonic and Mediterranean), organising concerts, music workshops and youth exchanges, cooperating with student and youth organisations as well as cultural institutions from Poland and the whole Europe.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We know how valuable are international activities for our members. Cooperating with young people from other countries and regions is extremely enriching for any young person and we hope to engage in international projects with ALF members.
