ANNA Lindh Foundation Network Malta Appeal_ Statement on the End of Hostilities in Israel and Palestine;

We, the Anna Lindh Foundation network in Malta, stand united in our commitment to human rights, to peace and the protection of civilians regarding the ongoing bloody conflict between Israel and Palestine. Our network is founded on the ideals of dialogue, extremism prevention and sustainability. We stand for human lives, and that is why we speak up and plea for the well-being of all people affected by the conflict.

Our pleas:

An Immediate Ceasefire: It is crucial to consider an immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Palestine, having in mind the countless lives being lost in Gaza, in the West bank and thinking of the numerous Israelis families who miss their loved ones, still hostages. We urge all parties to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy for a lasting solution.

Protection of Children: In conflict zones, children are the most vulnerable and it's then crucial for both parties to take all necessary measures to safeguard their lives and their well-being. Every possible action must be taken to shield them from harm and trauma.

Safety of Journalists: As news providers, the role of journalists is crucial in documenting the reality on the field, in order to inform the world and hold all parties accountable of war crimes and other breach of any international human rights standards. We call for their protection and physical integrity as they do their job. Fear of reprisals or physical harm should not be in their working agenda.

Protection of Humanitarian Workers: Aid provided to internally displaced people must reach the beneficiaries safely, and staff members of all humanitarian organisations must feel safe to provide support and assistance to those in need.

Security of Civilians: Civilians are innocent individuals that need to be protected at all costs. Collateral damages should be the exception in this conflict that has already cost too many lives. Our advocacy is in favour of the adherence to international standards that safeguard the rights and lives of civilians. Through this declaration, our network seeks to send a strong reminder of inalienable world priorities such as human dignity, peace, collaboration, and a dignified existence for every child. Let us fight for a world that promotes the dignity and well-being of all its inhabitants.
