This article from the Istituto Affari Internazionali summaries the challenges of food security around the world as a result of climate change highlighting specific areas such as the Po Valley in the North of italy and the Horn of Africa which comprises of Ethiopia, Kenya and last but not least Somalia. Furthermore it discusses the impacts that farming has had on the environment in terms of greenhouse emissions released into the atmosphere and discusses how food production has increased over the last 50 years. The article further discusses learning from the wrong lessons and discusses the wrong lessons learned from COP23 in Bonn Germany. The last section of the article discusses the climate food nexus which discusses the conflict between biodiversity, climate change, conflict and international trade and highlights key changes that need to be made in order to have a more sustainable climate friendly food chain in terms of food production.
