General Information

Artifactory is a powerful and flexible nexus that offers socio-cultural activities, programs, and projects of sustainable development of the region's potential through non-formal education, new skills, international collaborations, and focus on cultural heritage, culture, and the arts. Artifactory is an NGO offering services from 2017 based in the periphery of Epirus, Greece.
Artifactory has an elected board. The founding members of ARTIFACTORY are involved in more than 35 years in the design and implementation of EU and international funded projects in the domain of culture, digital heritage and the arts, tourism, VET training, mobility and academic research with more than 250 applications. By designing a series of EU funded projects, they have accumulated expertise in the cultural, tourism and AV sector and VET training. The budgetary resources come from European projects, projects implemented with National funding (Hellenic Ministry of Culture), Regional and local authorities and donations.

Mission and Objectives

At ARTIFACTORY we consider cultural heritage and the arts as the main lever for social progress, economic development, citizenship education, and the evolution of new skills for new jobs. Therefore we are committed to:

− raise awareness on the socio-economic potential of cultural heritage and the arts;
− exploit the potential of culture and the arts as a main medium for the resolution of social conflicts;
− stimulate cultural projects, initiatives and investments;
− involve and engage communities and the youth at grass roots level into the planning and management of heritage;
− assist local communities and the youth, discover their local heritage potential and strengthen their capacity for endogenous development;
− communicate heritage values to the youth and give them a platform for their voices.

Main Projects / Activities

• 2021 Ministry of Culture and Sports, “Postcards from home – The house”
• 2021 Ministry of Culture and Sports, “All of Greece is a Culture” July 15 - September 15, 2021, Cavafy: 4 Poems about Nikopolis - Archaeological site of Nikopolis, Preveza -2021 “Antony's Ending”. Cavafy 's interdisciplinary multi-collection project : 4 poems about Nikopolis attempts to connect Cavafy's poetic universe and its relationship with antiquity, as revealed through four poems, with the archaeological site of Nikopolis and its history. In this context, ARTIFACTORY implements for 2021 a thematic experience inspired by the poem by K. P. Cavafy “Antony's Ending”. Original works in the arts of photography and music were presented on August 28 and 29, 2021 at the archeological site and the Roman Conservatory of Nikopolis, accompanied by a special thematic tour.
• 2020-2021 “Art + Culture Vs Xenophobia”, The Art + Culture Vs Xenophobia project is being implemented under the Active Citizens fund program, by Artifactory and its partners, the Ås Art & Music School (Kulturskolen i Ås) (Municipality of Ås in Norway) and Baumstrasse- O dromos me dentra. “Art + Culture Vs Xenophobia” is a project to tackle the phenomenon of xenophobia and hate speech, due to lack of inclusion and tolerance towards the ‘Other’, with Art and Culture as tools. The aim of the project is to support networking, promotion and empowerment of organizations dealing with combating racism and xenophobia in Greece and Norway through the promotion of Best Practices projects that have been implemented for this purpose with Art and the Culture as tools and raise general awareness against racism, intolerance and the promotion of equality and respect for diversity through Art and Culture.

“Postcards from home-North West” is a series of creative workshops for the fight against discrimination and inequality, implemented with the support and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sport and Artifactory in collaboration with the Photography Groups of Western and Northern Greece : Komotini Photographic Team, Kavala Photographic Team, Filippiada Photographic Team KADRO and Arta FOA Photographic Team while at the same time presenting an invitation to vulnerable groups in these areas with an emphasis on national minorities and / or refugees.
