As part of the celebration of the Euro-Med Capital for Dialogue 2021 Award, the Municipality of Limassol held an event on the Day of the Mediterranean, on 28 November, 6 PM CET in “Panos Solomonides” Municipal Cultural Center in a hybrid format.

The event started with a 3-minutes video of the online choir with participants from Lebanon, Jordan, Hungary, France and Cyprus, singing Cyprus traditional song “Milia”.

The participants were addressed by: 

  • Ms Eleonora Insalaco, Anna Lindh Foundation
  • Mayor of Limassol, Mr Nicos Nicolaides
  • Mrs Tatiana Tsietti, President of the Cultural Movement “Epilogi” (member of ALF NN Cyprus)
  • Mr David Zsoldos, Board member of the Jeunesses Musicales International (member of ALF NN Belgium)

A music programme of 45 minutes was held with young musicians from Europe and Mediterranean countries under the title “Ethno Cyprus 2021”.

32 young musicians from Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon and Serbia preformed on traditional instruments from their countries and developed a programme from all participating countries, teaching each other during one week, staying together in Limassol and presenting it to the public of Limassol.
