Abstract

In view of the changed situations and conditions for intercultural communication (globalization, migration, digital networking, etc.), Research in interculturality has been focusing on a conceptual reorientation since the beginning of the new century. In this article, the current discourses on the concept of culture and interculturality are presented and analyzed in an exemplary and exploratory manner, focusing on and critically reflecting the criticism of the “old” concepts as well as the considerations regarding the concepts described as “new”. In addition, the issue of why the new theories and models could hardly be implemented in intercultural practice will be addressed.
