Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. A trained judge and diplomat, El-Arabi was formerly Foreign Minister of Egypt, Egyptian ambassador to the United Nations, and head of the Egyptian delegation to the Taba dispute negotiations. Previously, he took part in the Camp David negotiations, and was appointed Chairman of the UN Special Committee on Enhancing the Principle of the Prohibition of the Use of Force in International Relations.
