General Information
Our organisation is a municipality which is a Public Law Body, in charge of the administration of our city: Raanana. It is our responsibility to satisfy to the needs (education, infrastructures, environment, culture, security…) of our citizens offering them the maximum number of services and services of quality. As a municipality, we have an equip who is working in different areas whose one is dedicated to the Culture. In 2008, our total budget was about 17800 000euros. Our principal financial source is the government. In the area of the culture, Raanana is a very active city: we have a hall, festivals, dance and theatre companies…But actually, we would like to develop it, to connect it with other areas like education, environment care…and to make it more international.
Mission and Objectives

As we already said, we try to fulfil the needs of our inhabitants and we believe that the Culture is one of these needs to get to the dialogue and an eventual harmony. We would like to welcome more international shows to get to know other culture and to send artist from our region for people to get to know our culture, and to keep alive our traditions. We think to have the same goals than the Anna Lindh Foundation, and joining this organisation would make easier to realize the previous objectives as it would permit to develop the cooperation between countries surrounding the Mediterranean.

Main Projects / Activities

The municipality of Raanana realize and take part in lots of projects, whose lots of them participate to the cultural stimulation of our territory.
One of them is related to the ALF (and we would like to do more like it), we have the project to realize and to develop the Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas in Raanana (and maybe to extend it to other regions). This project is based on the artistic mobility. So, during the Festival in Raanana, we welcome artists who are part of our Cultural network (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Morocco and maybe this year Tunisia) and we are sending artists from our region to play in these countries. There are, as well, other projects, like the creation of Mediterranean orchestra. It is a very rich project for our citizens.

General Information
Muntada - The Arab Forum for Sexuality, Education and Health - is a national organization committed to the social development of Palestinian society, by addressing educational and counseling needs as they relate to sexuality and reproductive health. Regarded locally as a major professional and intellectual nexus in the field of human sexuality, Muntada is also dynamically building connections with Arab and international networks in this field that share the principles of universal human rights and sustainable development. (Muntada structure is attached as a document)
Mission and Objectives

Mission Statement
Based on its firm belief that sexual and reproductive rights are basic human rights--the realization of which contributes in a vital way to sustained human development--Muntada strives to promote these rights within Palestinian society, by addressing the sexuality and reproductive health needs of diverse age groups. Muntada aspires to substantially raise community awareness to sexual health challenges and to create counseling and educational programs that will effectively contribute to individual and family development. By partnering and engaging with various community sectors, and by employing methods that reflect sensitivity to the socio-cultural context, Muntada hopes to effectively deal with the serious sexual health challenges facing Palestinians on both the individual and community levels. These include high-risk sexual behaviors; sexual abuse, particularly among minors; sexually transmitted diseases (STDs); and the proliferation of harmful, inaccurate, and misleading sexual information, especially among youth.
Our Goals
 To raise in the Palestinian community awareness regarding sexual health and sexuality education, particularly among youth
 To combat all forms of sexual abuse
 To promote effective methods of reducing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases
 To enhance the right of each individual to freely choose a loving partner
 To establish sexuality-related counseling facilities for various age groups
 To create a professional and scientific foundation for the development of knowledge and skills of Palestinian and other Arab professionals working in sexuality and reproductive health
 To challenge erroneous and obsolete popular conceptions that denigrate women and, as a result, encourage psychological and sexual violence against them.

Main Projects / Activities

Muntada’s Main Programs for 2010
• School Education Program: this project focuses on developing appropriate, culturally-sensitive school curricula in sexuality education and training of professionals for working with students and their parents, as well as enriching parents with tools to improve communication with their children in this sensitive domain, and provide students with skills to make their own healthy decisions and protect themselves from potentially harmful sexual practices.
• Sexual Health Promotion through Community Outreach Programs: this project focuses on raising awareness regarding sexual health and rights through community workshops with various groups of all ages and both genders, as well as the creation of a space where the community can access accurate information and services related to sexuality. It is worth mentioning that a large part of the workshops are based on the participatory approach, that is, the active involvement of all the participants through interaction, expressing their views to others and free-open discussions with others in the group. Muntada’s website plays a major role in providing this accurate information, counseling on line, and professional advice to all educators and professionals who access the website and ask for assistance
• Advanced Professional Training on Sexuality Education and Sexual Health: Muntada conducts two advanced training courses (112 hours) every year. Every year, at least 36 professionals graduate from this course.
• Continuous Professional Supervision and Training for Staff members and Volunteers: Continuous professional training and supervision takes place for Muntada’s staff members and volunteers. In this regard, the sessions with Mr. Mustafa Shala’tah, a prominent psychologist, will continue to be held every three weeks to support the trainers and facilitators in their field work

General Information
Please see attached document titled “NUIS Organizational Structure: Professional and Volunteer Leadership,” which illustrates and explains the specific leadership structure and roles. The NUIS executive department is staffed by voluntary positions, including the president and the board, who are responsible for setting policy.  25 volunteer staff lead departments enacting policy created for the student community, these include Social Involvement, Human Rights and Gender Equality, Scholarships, Academic Affairs, Policy and Research, Government Relations and Lobby, Minority Rights for Students, Fundraising and Foreign Relations, Spokesperson and Public Relations. The NUIS budgetary resource available in a year totals $ 1,773,881.25, with its funding sources from a wide variety of sources (see attached). Modalities of actions include concrete social impact projects, scholarships. Main partners involved are local students unions, Council for higher education, higher education institutes, and civil society organizations.
Mission and Objectives

The mission of NUIS is to protect and promote students’ rights in the academic, social, and economic spheres. To this end, its main goals are: (1) Providing academic and social services to students. (2) Promoting student engagement and social activism through national and local initiatives. (3) Representing the Israeli student body in the public sphere on issues such as education, social activism, and human rights.

Main Projects / Activities

NUIS has significant accomplishments in the Israeli public sphere. In 2006 it successfully fought against an increase in tuition fees. A year later, NUIS initiated, promoted, and supported the Students Rights Law, which was passed in the Knesset. The law was created to protect student's rights in areas such as equal opportunity in the acceptance to academic programs, regardless of religion, race, gender, and physical disabilities. NUIS consistently addresses and takes steps to promote campus-based environmental issues and prevent sexual harassment. In 2012, NUIS was one of the principal groups behind the social protests protesting the Israeli high cost of living. Following this campaign, NUIS made ‘social impact’ an organizational priority, encouraging students to continue to be involved in national concerns and in civic engagement initiatives.
Re:Lod - In March 2012 NUIS launched Project Re:Lod. Sixty young activists moved to Lod and dedicated themselves to remaking one of Israel's most challenged cities into an innovative model of civic engagement. The main objectives of Re:Lod are: to foster mutual responsibility among the diverse residents of the city with an emphasis on youth; to increase the level of education and engender an interest in hobbies among the high school students participating in after-school activities; to change the Israeli perception of Lod by rebranding it as a center of civic activism and an ideal location for young people to live and raise their families.
Today, with 250 young volunteers and 80 program graduates who have chosen to live their lives in Lod, together with additional partners, NUIS is proud to be in the initial stages of replicating this successful model in Tzfat and Kiryat Shmona.
LETS - In recent decades we have been witnessing an intensification of a tendency toward self-imposed segregation in Israeli society – more and more the various ethnic groups are isolating themselves and distinguishing their identity apart from the Israeli collective.
To help combat these destructive developments, NUIS has developed an educational program –Learning for an Equal and Tolerant Society (LETS), that will promote tolerance and multicultural understanding for Jerusalem-based high-school students, working in conjunction with professionals from the Jerusalem Municipality’s Education Authority Division and other. The program will be implemented by students from Jerusalem-based academic institutions, who will design and moderate the workshop sessions in the high schools, serving as role models in the process.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

The NUIS has a wealth of experience in operating social impact projects with students from all sectors of society throughout the state of Israel. Additionally, some of the NUIS projects are collaborations with civil society partners, such as with the ReLod Project. To this end the NUIS would be pleased to share its knowledge with the Network  as it would relate to operating social projects and working with different community-based partnerships.  An additional possibility, is to create a connection between existing Network projects with a high quality human resource such as the 330,000 students that are under the auspices of the NUIS.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

1. Mutual Learning- Although the NUIS has a wealth of knowledge in operating social projects and working with partners, it believes that there is much more to be learned specifically in the realms of coexistence, multiculturalism, and other similar models in Israel and throughout the world.
2. Concentrated Efforts- the NUIS strives to invest efforts addressing acute needs of Israeli society- such as racism and intolerance in ethnically mixed cities.
3. Increase the NUIS experience with multiple partner projects, and learn from international case studies.
4. Project sustainability- NUIS wants to position itself such that it will be exposed to funding opportunities and partnerships which will aid in sustaining its projects.

General Information
We are largely a volunteer based organization, including the director, and only have three paid part-time staff. We have a core group of about 30 volunteers from both the Jewish and Arab communities who are involved on a weekly basis and a further 200 volunteers who support our activities in the villages every two months. Our activities are governed by an active and engaged seven-member volunteer board of directors made up of Jewish and Bedouin residents. During 2009, our annual operating budget was approximately US$45,000. The New Israel Fund is our major donor, however, we have also received support from the Haella Foundation and the British Shalom Salaam Trust. The NCF works closely with local and national organisations that have aligning interests. In 2002, for instance, we founded the Recognition Forum, a coalition of Israeli human rights organisations, to advocate for recognition for the unrecognised villages. The NCF has developed strong relationships with at least 20 communities in the Negev.
Mission and Objectives

Since 1999 when the NCF was jointly founded by Jewish and Arab residents, our mission has been to advance the principles of partnership and equality between the diverse communities in the Negev-Naqab, the southern desert region of Israel. Our guiding objective is to promote a culture of peace and coexistence in the desert region through localized activities that bring people together to tackle inequalities and heighten awareness. In addition, we advocate, on both the domestic and international level, for governmental recognition of Bedouin villages and the elimination of civil, economic, social and cultural discrimination against Arab-Bedouins.

Main Projects / Activities

We hold that meeting the people at the heart of the debate face to face is an instrumental experience towards changing the way people think and dispelling the myths and prejudices. Through our many local community-based activities such as joint celebrations of religious holidays, cultural evenings and activity days in Bedouin villages, we hope to open a dialogue between the Bedouin and Jewish citizens in the Negev and Israel towards cultural coexistence and respect. These opportunities allow individuals to share values and live together. In addition, we heighten local, domestic and international awareness through the internet, printed materials, protests, art exhibitions and shadow reports to the United Nations regarding the implementation of various international human rights instruments (such as ICERD, ICCPR and ICESCR.

General Information
I would like to introduce the Ometz Movement the Israeli NGO for an equal and just Israeli society. The State of Israel was founded on Jewish and democratic values. For 25 years, we have been the leading activists for a state that maintains those values. At present, despite all the good that exists in Israel, there is much work to be done. Social divides (socioeconomic, cultural, regional, etc.), government mismanagement and corruption, life-threatening contention and abuse among religious and cultural groups, all threaten our country’s democratic values. We are convinced that Israel’s extreme socio-economic gaps contribute to public corruption and to destructive social processes, to a young generation that lacks direction, that is losing faith in our country’s future.  Therefore we created an NGO that is devoted to eliminating corruption, bribery and other kinds of miss-use of public resources at government and municipal levels. The main goals of “Ometz” are as follows: Ometz is actively opposed to any form of miss-use of public money or any other means of bribery, used to influence decision and acts taken by the legislator, the executive or the Judiciary. Ometz is committed to act against any attempt to use states’ resources in order to further politicians’ personal ambitions or those of their supporters. Ometz advocates the inclusion of the most stringent use of restraints and control mechanisms, within local and national government organizations. Ometz engages teams of voluntary experts to expose any corruption or acts of dishonesty carried out by elected representatives or senior administrators at municipal and national levels. Ometz encourages any legislation by parliament, which promotes proper ethical codes and administrative integrity. Ometz plans to operate within the educational system – both formal and extracurricular – to promote greater awareness and support for a correct and ethical government.
Mission and Objectives

Ometz Movement employs 21 staff members and 25 layers in addition to having 300 volunteers, in order to fulfill our mission of creating a better society for all Israelis, encouraging social leadership, and fighting against corruption. Our budgetary resources available in a year is $221,852, which we receive from donors, participation fees, and the Altshuler Shaham Investment House. Our projects include Inspiring Social Initiative, Acceptance and Tolerance / Sports, Social Values Education, Arts, Culture, Values, and Leadership Accountability. Our objectives:

Creating acceptance and coexistence among Jewish, Arab, Druze, Bedouin, Christian, and other Israelis.

Better resources for Israelis who live in underprivileged communities.

Improved infrastructure for a socially effective, dedicated, and accountable government.

Secure and sustainable futures for our young people.

Main Projects / Activities

Inspiring Social Initiative: We encourage creative social activism by educating Israelis about the astonishing work of ordinary citizens, leaders, and professionals from every cultural and religious sector. Throughout the year, we award activists in the areas of equality, social services, and tolerance. We have granted awards for projects like: philanthropic medical advancements, nationwide programs for values, and more. Awardees are recognized at national ceremonies and widely publicized in the media – Israelis learn that every individual can create new solutions for a better country. Objective: To research and identify outstanding social activists; to present them to the Israeli community through the media and in national award ceremonies.

Acceptance and Tolerance / Sports: Too often, contention – even hatred – comes to the fore in Israel’s sports arenas and playing fields. Fist fights and name-calling overwhelm games in both national and youth leagues. Ironically, sports are often valued for their encouragement of social values, teamwork, and acceptance. Our sports and values project reverses that irony through publicity, lectures, and workshops that encourage values in the arena. Sports permeates a great part of Israeli society. Better values for hundreds of thousands of sports fans can significantly affect our entire society. Objective:To hold workshops and lectures for youth and adults, and advertise for better sports values.

Social Values Education: The greatest potential for social change rests in our young generation. Our high school curriculum for social values is authorized by the Ministry of Education and makes social justice relevant for Israeli teens. Each year, we train teachers in a new group of target cities, creating a new youth culture for an Israel of equality and justice. Objective: We will collaborate with five Israeli municipalities for teacher training throughout the city or town.

Arts, Culture, Values: Our annual arts program gives thousands of Israeli youth a platform for social commentary through the creative arts. Each year, thousands of high school students participate in a program that encourages social values through artistic mediums: film, photography, creative writing, and more. The program culminates in a competition that is judged by artists and social leaders. Outstanding finalists are presented to the Israeli public. Objective: We will publicize and facilitate a nationwide competition for thousands of youth. Finalists will be presented at the Tel Aviv Cinemateque.

Leadership Accountability: For 25 years, we have held government leadership accountable to civic values and laws. We investigate and bring corrupt politics to light, prosecuting and often achieving accountability (incarceration, fines). As corruption is eradicated, Israelis call for better leadership, true leaders step forward. In 2017 we will implement this program on the municipal level where the absence of accountability and transparency is even more extreme than on the national level. Objective: We will initiate a process of investigation and response to reports of municipal corruption. Our legal and social activists will work to develop better laws and infrastructure for transparency.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We envision an Israeli society with stronger social welfare, equal opportunities for success, and leaders who are committed to the welfare of all citizens. In three decades, we will celebrate Israel’s centennial anniversary. We aim to celebrate with stronger infrastructure for equality and human rights, with balanced civic standards for all cultural, social, and religious sectors. We act to create a better society: to resolve the cultural antagonism in our country, to ensure transparency in government, and to assure equal allocation of resources among stronger and weaker populations.
