General Information

JUB is a youth organization, founded in 2011, aiming to promote peace, understanding and co-operation between young people in the world. We aim to realize local and international youth activities, to promote tolerance between young people from different cultures and countries. Further, we hope to encourage active involvement in society, without any distinction because of race, social status, educational level or any other ‘disadvantage’. We work in a spirit of respect for human rights and we highly value sustainable development. Our projects are carried out by trained professionals, mostly based on non-formal education methods. It means we make use of several techniques, like brainstorming, discussions, presentations, role plays, simulations and expert inputs. The proverb ‘learning by doing’ is most suitable here. In short, we create a space for young people, to develop themselves. T

It means we make use of several techniques, like brainstorming, discussions, presentations, role plays, simulations and expert inputs. There is no permanent staff. The budgetary resources per year depend on the approval of project grants, which varies. For an indication, the 2016 budget was around 110.000 euro. Sources: Erasmus Plus, Europe Direct, small local partners. Main events are international trainings and Human Libraries.

Main Projects / Activities

International trainings and seminars for youth workers regarding Human Rights Education and Conflict Transformation. On local basis, JUB organizes Human Libraries. Via this event visitors can have a talk with a Human Book, a person who is dealing with stereotypes against them on a daily basis. The Human Library offers a space for a dialogue and a chance to gain knowledge outside of your social bubble. It is a great way to promote respect for diversity.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

My organization would be more than happy to share information about our activities and recourses, which can help other organizations to set up similar events.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

It would be good to hear from other organizations as well, and acquire contacts to set up new projects, with new collaborations. We are always looking forward to renew ourselves, with new methods and ways. Via this network we can be in touch with similar organizations, having a bigger impact toward our goals.

General Information
1. We are a small, and therefore flexible organization, consisting of 1 artistic director, 1 managing director and 2 producers. For each project we collaborate with many freelancers and interns. Partners: a.o. festivals, theatre/ dance/music groups, theatre halls, music schools and conservatory. 2. approx. € 400.000 (depending on project-financing) 3. each project has to be funded on its own. Main sources of funding come from regular cultural subsidizers and government subsidies. Internationally: cultural centers, European funding, Embassies and the Dutch government. 4. Large (mainly music) projects in divided communities which centralize around local artists and have a positive influence. 5. always different
Mission and Objectives

La Vie sur Terre was initiated by composer Merlijn Twaalfhoven to realise projects that include the audience in an overall experience. By creating a natural setting we want to take art from its pedestal, melt art with its surroundings and by doing this immerse a broad (and mostly inexpert) public in an experience of the senses. We organise frequently extensive events, without the burden of inertia which is frequently own to established institutions. To anticipate on new developments, a project is frequently made in the short term, never repeated and always adapted to the properties of a location.

Main Projects / Activities

Local: community art in Zaandam, small music projects, concert for all senses, piano recital with interaction of singers etc. International: - Ramallah (huge music project with local and international musicians about Palestinan culture to give a positive vibe trough the international world) - Golan Height (music project on both sides Israeli & Syria territory to form unity between the divided Druze people) - Slovakia (Roma project in the east of Slovakia) - Symphony for all in Amman Jordan (a concert for a professional symphony and 200 children and music students)

General Information
Le Grand Cru is working in the field of intercultural dance training and dance education. Established choreographers Feri de Geus and Noortje bijvoets are the artistic directors . together with a bussiness director they form the head of the organisation. Yearly they have appr. 10 members working for the foundation. Le Grand Cru is sponsored by sectorial institutes related to Arts, Development work and Foreign Affairs. Le Grand Cru has created many partners worldwide through artistic and educational exchanges in the form of workshops, longterm trainings and international productions. Recently they have established relations with Syria, Jordan, and Benin (West-Africa). The yearly budget ranges between 250.000 and 300.000 euro.
Mission and Objectives

Special people, special cultures; Dutch based Le Grand Cru Foundation brings them together to make the world a better place. Artistic directors De Geus and Bijvoets create unique intercultural performances and support young people in their self-development through the art of dance and theatre. With training, education and productions, they have in recent years cooperated with local partners in many countries. In search for authenticity and with expertise and curiosity as 'luggage' the choreographers tell the unpolished ('cru'), direct human story of young people that often have little access to art or who live in complex societies. Le Grand Cru reveals the thoughts and dreams of these young people by making titillating and provocative performances. Le Grand Cru has developed her own method of cultural and 'mental mapping' to build her impressive productions and workshops. Training and education determine the process of gaining craftsmanship and self-development. Le Grand Cru is leading in presenting professional art in a framework of cultural awareness and social change. De Geus and Bijvoets demonstrate that artistic virtuosity and empowerment go hand in hand. Highly successful, as audience, participants, press and donors all respond very positive.

Main Projects / Activities

Dance training and choreography projects, training the trainers workshops aimed at developping and spreading dance amongst youngsters. Le Grand Cru has a specific method that reveals the strenght and identity of cultures and putting it in a contemporary setting
Le Grand Cru works from a self developed unique mapping methodology. The purpose of this technique is to reveal the social and cultural identity of the participants ( dancers / actors) and at the same time has its focus on intercultural exchange. The method focuses on issues dealing with general culturally recognizable human values. Through a process of guiding assignments and improvisations all kind of matters pop up that stimulates cultural awareness: who are you, what is important for an individual's life, matters from personal to politics. By using this method De Geus en Bijvoets do not work with preconceived issues but they let the themes for a performance organically come into being. This unique method of working is constantly tested, extended and adjusted.
